Episode 9 "Unbound"
An XRN named Danica goes on a killing spree. Dorian and Kennex find out that Nigel Vaughn created her (and other DRNs like Dorian). Both models were created using "synthetic soul". The current MX models do not possess this since the older models sometimes went crazy and killed people. It turns out Vaughn is a bad guy and was behind everything. He hightails it over a strange wall with a bunch of core processors which he can use to create an army of synthetics. I'm sure we'll be seeing him again. What's up with the wall? I completely missed that before. Episode takeaway: getting your head stuck in the evidence locker is a good way to get past police's defenses. Bonus points for great fight scenes and eyeball ripping.
Episode 10 "Perception"
Two teenagers are killed. We are introduced to "Chromes" (and we dont mean Google Chromes). Chromes are genetically engineered humans. Valerie Stahl is a Chrome. Thank goodness she FINALLY has something to do on this show. Anyway, one of the students at the school, Julian, is using an old "drug printer" that was owned by his father to manufacturer drugs specially tailored to the Chromes DNA. Someone broke into the printer and gave the two teens a lethal dose. That someone is the mother of a non-Chrome girl who had died earlier (but the Chromes had nothing to do with her death). Kennex also has flashbacks of the ambush and Anna (but I dont really care about that story line). And why did we not get more info on the Chromes? That was the most interesting part. Episode takeaway: Dont do drugs kids (especially if you're a GMO).
Episode 11 "Disrupt"
A home security system kills a couple (the woman is drowned in the pool when the cover is closed and the man is recognized as a weapon and shot). The kicker is the husband is the designer of the system. It killed someone else previously (a teenager named Aaron). Obviously someone is hacking into the system to knock off people. It turns out to be one of Aaron's friends. There is a batlle of the hackers. The latest would be victim is saved from the SamBots just in time. The comic relief of the episode comes with Kenex making up all sorts of stories about why Paul is out of work (bad piercing down there, infection from a sexbot, hemorrhoids, etc). Funny stuff. Episode Takeaway: Dont piss off your home security system (and never get a pool with a cover). Where can I get a SamBot that won't kill me?
Grade: 4 Monsters (out of 5). "Almost Human" continues to provide a fun (and sometimes frightening glimpse of what the future could be). There are two episodes left in the season (I think).
