We see Sergio Balleseros get a message on his top secret phone that reads "Evacuation on hold. Retrieve Dr Hvik". OK but who's Dr Hvik? No one knows. Daniel says he doesnt know.
Sarah is still with one of the victims (Dr. Van Eigem). She ends up helping her commit suicide by injecting herself with morphine. I think I'd be tempted to do the same thing in that situation. Favorite quote of the episode: "The worst part is the waiting. Death should come out of nowhere..". Be careful what ya wish for.
Meanwhile Hatake stabs himself with his knife in order to get close to Julia. Speaking of Julia, she finds out that the woman who has kept her alive in Level R (Jaye) is just a figment of her imagination. Julia asks Hatake about all the scars she saw when bandaging his wound. He says they are from a house fire in which he lost his daughter. Is Julia Hatake's daughter? Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe everyone on this show is already dead? I REALLY hope not.
Sergio finds The White Room. Dr Duchamp (who apparently knows everything) tells Alan it's just an inside joke about the frozen Arctic tundra. It turns out Dr Hvik is... wait for it.... a severed head. OK then, not sure who that is but it's definitely NOT Jeri Ryan. That made me laugh. I dont know if we're in an episode of "The Walking Dead" or "Futurama". I DO think we've already reached our quota for severed heads on TV shows this year.
Sergio tries to kill Daniel and takes Dr Hvik. He also tries to kill Alan by shoving him down a snow bank. But of course both Daniel and Alan survive. Daniel then stabs Sergio with an ice axe. Is he dead? If not I hope they all give him the cold shoulder when he gets back to the base.
Grade: 4 Monsters (out of 5). I'm still loving the show! Bonus points for the weirdness of flaming monkeys and severed heads. Were those monkeys all still alive and just frozen before Sergio set them on fire? And who are those other severed heads that were hanging out with Dr Hvik?
TV: Heavy On Sci Fi, Horror & Adventure; Light On Reality
