This week's episode was entitled "Let The Dark Times Roll". And if you're reading this review and haven't watched the show, you'd would swear I'm on acid.
We previously learned that Bo is now Dark Fae but she doesn't remember the specifics. She goes to see Vex and surprise! There is Evony instead. Yes she still has two eyeballs. Evony the Morrigan now wants to be BFFs and invites Bo to a party. Bo brings Kenzi and Tamsin. Dark Fae really are more fun.
Humans are there as snacks. Remember Bruce the bodyguard? He's now part of a poo poo platter. He will henceforth be known as "Brushi" (which is Bruce + sushi). In order to rescue him someone has to beat his current owner in a fight to the death. Tamsin chooses a dance-off as the method of combat because... welll I'm not sure why. Too bad her challenger was a professional break dancer. Tamsin still wins by going all scary faced on her.
Meanwhile elswhere in the house, Evony says she has a surprise for Bo. It is.... wait for it... it is Lauren. Evony is the one that kidnapped her. There is some lip locking and snarky comments from Evony. She sends Bo to retrieve Vex since he will tell her who her Dark Fae sponsor is. She has to prove she can tricked into becoming Dark before the full moon.
Bo, Lauren and a scavenger Fae try to lure Vex out with a knife known as the Scimitar of Cronus. The plan doesnt go quite as expected and Vex kidnaps Bo. He's busy trying to get his hand back (which has been poisoned by the Una Mens). Apparently if you chop off the hands of Mesmers they die (and Vex is the last Mesmer). Long story, blah, blah, back to Evony whose archivist had the info all along. Bo's sponsor is "Rainer" (whoever that is).
And Trick is summoned by the Una Mens. There's a lot of exposition about how the Una Mens was formed. After the Great Fae War the members of the Una Mens gave up their individual freedoms in order to become one mind (can we say Borg?) and enforce the laws. Trick was supposed to join them but somehow he got out of it (and never swallowed his magic bean). Turns out he was the Blood King? Whatever. Who can keep track of this show's craziness. Oh and they still want to kill the humans (Kenzi and Lauren/Karen).
Bo goes back to the Dal where Trick tells her he's the temporary new Ash (per the Una Mens). Lauren is staying with the Dark Fae. We're not sure where Dyson is.
This show continues to have the funniest dialogue. There is so much good stuff it's hard to keep track:
- "You strike at the Una Mens and you shall be your own victim"- Una Mens to Bo after her failed chi sucking attempt.
- "The light are assholes and the Dark are assholes who have fun"- Kenzi's description of the difference between dark and light fae.
- “Boring! What’s next? Are you gonna braid each others hair? Scissor already!”- Evony about Bo and Lauren's reunion.
- The Una Mens was created as a “single vessel of humility and justice".
Grade: 4 Monsters (out of 5). This show is too bizarre to adequately explain. You'll just have to watch it to understand.
