In episode 6 "Playing With Fire" we find Chris and Corinne on an deserted Dominica island. And no, I didnt know where Dominica was either. He's a fisherman from New Jersey. She's a dietician from California who also does obstacle courses.
For her item Corinne brings a pot. Chris brings a knife. And why do some people bring pots? Bring a firestarter for God's sake. But no one asked me.
They must contend with the usual (starvation and heat exhaustion) while avoiding sharks, man of war, jellyfish and poisonous sea urchins.
At first they get along well but Chris is a bit of an alpha male. Corinne is very emotional and ends up quitting on day 13. Im not sure what she had envisioned the trip would be like. Chis is kinda irritating but he's not unbearable. And he does strongly believe in teamwork.
Anyway she's out and Chris is on his own. He does just fine by himself. He finds a crab and cooks it with hearts of palm. His fire almost goes out but he manages to keep it going. He carries the embers in Corinne's pot to the other side of the island and starts a signal fire. The boat cant get close enough though so he swims out to it.
After watching Chris for a while, I like him. He's a go getter. Good for you Chris.

Phaedra brought a fire starter and Hakim brought a hatchet (which he designed himself).
They find a running stream. Phaedra wants to drink the water but Hakim is against it. They need to filter or boil it first. And then Phaedra gets really sick. Hakim digs a hole with sand and rock. That should filter out the big particles in the water and hopefully make it safe to drink.
On day 4 producers intervene since Phaedra is continually sick. She is diagnosed with dysentery but they allow her to continue. Hakim tries to convince her to tap out.
They then have a big fight. Phaedra later apologizes for her behavior and says being thought of as a weak woman triggers lots of issues. They make up and sleep in the shelter.
It's still really cold so they start a new shelter from scratch and add a fire pit to the side.
They eat a few crabs, worms, vegetation and find a dead bird. While Phaedra's dysentery acts up they eventually make it to the extraction point.
I have to hand it to both of Phaedra and Hakim. They managed to pull together as a team and be supportive of one another. i dont know how Phaedra was able to make it after her initial bad start. Hakim was calm throughout the entire ordeal. He was always supportive and looking for solutions to problems. These two are some of my most favorite participants thus far.
