The Bridge Episode 4 Recap: I Honor You Dead Armadillo Because I Place Such A High Value On Life

I've said it before but "The Bridge" is not a show that you casually watch (since you'll have no idea what's going on). It slowly inserts the puzzle pieces and then gradually reveals them. Will this formula sustain enough audience members to get it to season 3? I personally have difficulty at times since I'm used to a faster payoff (not that "The Bridge" is not worth it).   Anyway here's the general goings on during "The Acorn":

  • Eleanor comes across a dead armadillo in the road. She makes a little rock memorial for it. Sure you care about an armadillo but you just killed an innocent boy whose only crime was trying to help you (and touch your booby).
  • Charlotte and Ray are still hold up in a shady motel. Monte stops by. Looks like Galvan will not kill them (now) but wants them to do another "job". What precisely we do not know. Their trip to Alaska will have to wait.
  • Adrianna and Frye visit Rayburn National Bank. They see Timmy with the bandaged ear and know they're on Eleanor's trail. Also, call him "Tim" and not "Timmy" please. They tell Delarge that they're investigating money laundering (and Millie's case). He kicks them out. Then Delarge goes outside and blows his brains out (right in front of the poor guy twirling a bank sign).
  • Next Sonya and Marco show up ot investigate. Tim spills his guts and goes into protective custody. I'm thinking Tim should have yielded Delarge's advise and moving back to Pennsylvania instead. Marco heads over the paper to see what the twosome were up to. They tell Marco he'll have to read it in the "El Paso Times" like everyone else. At least we have Adriana, Frye, Marco and Sonya in the same orbit now.
  • Sonya and Marco investigate the CLIO Group in Mexico. Mr Cerisola was the man with Galvan when Marco was summoned to him previously. Uh oh. Talk about uncomfortable. Side Note: Cerisola is played by Marco's (Demian Birsch) real life brother (Bruno Bichir).
  • Meanwhile Linder and Rev Bob are trying to get the list of all the cops that were at the party where Eva was drugged and raped. That copy may need a little more rock therapy..
  • Jim Dobbs dies and brother Jack does not call Sonya before it happens. He knows how desperately she wants closure. Do we know for sure that Jack is not the one that killed her sister? I have my doubts.
  • Prosecutor Pintado wants Marco to help him bring down the the corrupt cops. Marco is not necessarily willing. I dont blame him. There are too many. The best thing to do is get the hell outta there.
  • Sonya and Jack have sex again. This time she asks him to choke her while doing the deed. What's that about? Does this have to do with her sister's murder? He also sneaks and steals one of his brother's pictures off her refrigerator. Again, I think he's up to no good. And you know Sonya is going to notice that is missing.
  • Eleanor meets with Galvan. He has been keeping someone prisoner. We do not see who it is. Eleanor offers him/her/it an acorn? Was that a human finger? Was it a monkey? Was it as some have suggested a chupacabra? Was it a zombie and we've crossed over to "The Walking Dead"? Galvan had said to Eleanor previously "I have something you want. That means I have you". Did Eleanor do all these crimes because she was trying to protect someone? If so, I'm not buying it. She seemed to enjoy herself WAY too much.

Grade: 3 1/2 Monsters (out of 5). Not my most favorite episode but I'm still hanging there to see what Eleanor and the acorn eater are really up to.
