Gotham Episode 12 Recap: Not Electrifying

This week's episode of "Gotham" entitled "What The Little Bird Told Me" was kinda hohum. You'd think a show about a guy who electrocutes people would be more electrifying but... nope. Hopefully next week will pick up. Otherwise I may have to move this to the "B Team" of shows I watch.

Previously Jack Gruber (ie the Electrocutioner) and his gorilla lackey Aaron broke out of Arkham Asylum (but not before killing several people). Now he's heading back to his old haunt (an electrical supply store) to pick up his stuff and to do bad things to the guy there. Uh oh.

It turns out Jack Gruber is really Lester Buchinsky and that he previously worked for Maroni. Maroni had him take the fall for their previous crimes (bank robberies). Now he's out for revenge. Gordon has 24 hours to capture him if he wants to be reinstated to the GCPD.

In other news, we meet Barbara's parents. No wonder that poor girl is so screwed up. They barely acknowledge her existence. She asks to stay a few days but its obvious they dont want her there.

Over at Don Falcone's residence, Liza is missing. Falcone calls Penguin to assistance. We know that Liza has been working with Fish all along.

More Of This Please

Dr Thompkins from the asylum visits Jim at the police station. I really hope those two get together. Barbara, you can stay with Renee. Anyway, Leslie tells Jim that the patients have been making voodoo dolls and guess who this one looks like? That doll doesnt look like Maroni to me at all. What say you?

That Apparently Was A Sunburn Bomb (Cause It Didnt Do Anything Else)

The Electrocutioner throws some sort of electricity bomb into Maroni's hideout. Penguin touches the door and gets a jolt. Everyone else manages to escape but are a little charred. Gruber doesnt seem to be very good at killing people. Cobblepot muttering about Falcone in the back of the ambulance was fun. Robin Lord Taylor is perfect as the Penguin.

Less Of This Please

Nygma tries to get the attention of Ms Kringle by putting a bullet in a cupcakes. He says its a riddle. She says it creepy and she cant eat it. Not sure these two will be making a love connection any time soon.

I'm Sorry But That's Really A Stupid Plan

Fish tells Falcone to come to her club if he wants Liza back. Mooney's plan is to force Falcone to leave the country. Seriously? What kind of plan is that. I thought she wanted him dead. He learns that Liza has been working with her all along (plus Penguin had clued him in earlier). Falcone strangles Liza. Fine, I never really bought that he loved her anyway. Meanwhile Zsasz and his men kill all of Mooney's guards. Mooney and Butch are now captives of Falcone. Will Fish survive till the end of the season?

Oh and Gruber is foiled with a cup of water. Seriously? The guy was the big bad a few weeks ago and he's captured that easily? I'm frustrated.

Grade: 3 Monsters (out of 5). The show has great potential and great characters but the plot is sometimes all over the place. Gotham has been extended to 22 episodes so we're only in the middle of the season. Hopefully they'll get it together soon.
