Legends Of Tomorrow Season 4 Premiere Review: Now With Demonic Unicorns

My favorite DC/CW show has returned for a new season with an episode entitled "The Virgin Gary".  Our gang of dysfunctional superheros includes: Sarah, Mick, Ray, Nate, and Zari. Ava and Gary from the Time Bureau joins the group. Jess Macallan (Ava) is now a season regular. Constantine is back as well.  See my preview reviews of his NBC show here. With him in tow, we should see lots more supernatural hijinks. I wasnt a big fan of the Mallus time year but at least it gave us Beebo The God Of War (whom I ABSOLUTELY love).

The Legends discover an anachronism (ie time anomaly) at Woodstock. There the group has a psychedelic trip (courtesy of an evil unicorn's sparkle sauce) They meet rock royalty (Janice Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, and Jerry Garcia).

Luckily John is able to send the magical unicorn to Hell and stop his blood thirsty massacre-- but not before it bites off one of Gary's nipples. Ouch! Uni also impales an unsuspecting hippie. Where's the love man?

Sarah and Ava's relationship is progressing but Sarah is worried about the effect her work will have. That's a valid concern in my book. At least those two kids are trying to make a go of it. Ray is coming to terms with his feelings for Nora Darhk (remember he let her escape at the end of last season). And the actors playing Ray (Brandon Routh) and Nora (Courtney Ford) are married IRL so there ya go. I believe Nora is the third new series regular so we'll be seeing more of her.

At the end of the episode, Constantine is attacked by an evil invisible something. He/she/they/it writes "I'm coming for you Johnny" on a mirror. Remember Constantine told Sarah that their actions last season caused many more baddies to escape into their realm. And so it begins.

Grade: 4 1/2 Monsters (out of 5). The show continues to dish out meta humor left and right. They discuss their "ratings" and how fighting a werewolf might help. I would be all in for that. I can't wait to see what new trouble our lovable losers get into. Next week's episode involves some witches and a fairy godmother.
