Matt Murdock/Daredevil (played by Charlie Cox) is by day a blind lawyer. By night he fights crime. Joining him (although they are not aware he is DD) are his law partner (Foggy Nelson) and their first client who later ends up working with them (Karen Page). She's played by the wonderful Deborah Ann Wool of "True Blood" fame. Claire Temple (played by Rosario Dawson) is "Night Nurse". She knows Matt's true identity and stitches Daredevil up every time he appears at her door.
Hell's Kitchen is full of seedy characters including Wilson Fisk/Kingpin (a bald Vincent D'Onofrio). There are also Russian, Chinese and Japanese gangsters and various goons.
We learn some of Matt's back story-- such as how he became blind and his relationship with his father (and, in later episodes, his trainer).
Just An Ordinary Guy That Gets Beat Up A Lot
One cool thing about Daredevil is that he only uses his fists. He doesnt have any special powers-- no magic suit, no cool gadgets, no superhuman strength. He's just a guy that uses his highly trained other senses to fight crime. He's definitely not invincible and gets beat up quite a bit. This is referenced in teh show when a baddy says to his underlings "Maybe if he had an iron suit or a magic hammer it would explain why you keep getting your asses kicked". Haaa! Too funny.
Black Is Always Slenderizing
I havent seen DD don this trademark red suit yet but I hear its in later episodes. Right now he has on a black ensemble with a wool cap over his eyes.
Grade: 3 3/4 Monsters (out of 5). Not my usual cup of tea but fans of "Arrow", "Flash" and "Agents of SHIELD" should definitely check "Daredevil" out. At 13 episodes, it's not a huge investment of time. There are lots of cool fight scenes including one in a hallway that's a standout. I also enjoyed the title sequence-- with various New York buildings and Daredevil taking shape out of dripping blood. It reminds me of "Hannibal".
