Wentworth Season 2 Overview: Governor Ferguson Is Hands Down The Best Thing About This Season

To catch up those who arent familiar, "Wentworth" is an Australian series. It follows the stories of inmates in a women's prison as well as the lives of several guards. Seasons 1 and 2 are currently available on Netflix. Since most of the back stories of characters were dealt with last year, season 2 focuses more on their relationship inside and out of prison.

Every Time Bea Turns Around Someone Is Trying To Kill Her

At the end of season 1 Bea had stabbed Jacs over the death of her daughter. We pick up three months later when Bea is in the psych ward. Poor Bea doesnt ask for trouble but it sticks to her like a magnet. Bea eventually enters the general population again (but she secretly continues her plan to make Brayden pay for killing Debbie). Still there are Liz, Doreen, Frankie and Boomer. Other prisoners include Kim (Frankie's girlfriend), Jess, Sky and Simmo (an employee of Jacs and her husband Vinnie). Well that cant be good for Bea. We later meet a transgendered inmate named Maxine. One of the prisoners is released but is ill equipped for the outside world. We also learned of an unexpected pregnancy.

The best part about season 2 is hands down Joan "The Freak" Ferguson as the new governor. She takes Erica's place. Ferguson scares the bejesus out of me... and I L-O-V-E it. She is very tall and imposing in her perfectly starched uniform. Add her tight bun and completely in control attitude and she's a force to be reckoned with. Joan has lots of secrets as we find out throughout the season.

The Correctional Officers: Will, Vera, Fletcher and Governor Ferguson

Officer Vera still struggles with her sick and abusive mother. Fletch is still crazy as a loon. Their romance last sentence is most definitely off now. Will is still struggling with the death of his wife Meg (and trying to find out who killed her).

Grade: 4 3/4 Monsters (out of 5). The middle was a little slower but the last few episodes finished with a bang. I cant wait for season 3 to be released on Netflix. Since it just aired in April in Australia, we may be waiting a while. I may need to make a quick trip to Australia for... research purposes of course.
