Did Someone Call My Name?
Helena first contemplates stabbing Mrs S. They take away her steak knife and fork BUT leave her with a spoon. People, bad things can still happen with spoon. Mrs S could be scooped to death. Helena wants to fight. Mrs S says no. She cant hit a pregnant woman. Helena punches her in the face in a few times. Mrs S punches her once and then regrets it. She immediately hugs Helena and wont let go saying Helena now has a family to protect her now. That was a sweet scene. I was surprised at how quickly Helena seemed to forgive her. Time will tell if that's true.
Mother Hendrix
Back in the states, Alison needs her adopted mom's store (Bubbles) as a drug front. This is the first time we've met Connie. She refers to Donnie as "Mr Chubbs". Hilarious! Well his name really is Donald Frances Chubbs. He took her last name of Hendrix when they married. Alison continues to run for school trustee but mother Connie is voting for her opponent. Ouch! That woman is a piece of work.
Donny is still monitoring Alison's vitals for Dyad. Do they still need that stuff? Apparently so. Poor Donnie goes to meet with Jason's drug boss (Poachy). Instead of bringing the drug money he mistakenly brings the envelope with Alison's campaign brochures. Alison later confesses to Felix about the drug business. Felix says Poachy is the same drug lord that cut off Vic's finger. Oh, Nine Fingered Vic. I havent thought about you in a while.
Uncomfortable
Delphine arrives at Cosima's house while she's mid snuggle with Shay. Very bad timing. Shay pretends to be in the other room showering (but she's actually snooping on the conversation). Delphine says Cosima's lab numbers are bad and they need another urine sample. Cosima tells Scott NOT to share Dr Duncan's book with Delphine.
Alison is at the school preparing for her campaign speech. Cosima arrives to get Alison's pee (so she can give it to Delphine for testing). But Connie is faking a heart attack so Alison runs to check on her. Uh oh. It's time for the campaign photos and Alison is not back. Felix (who is acting as Alison's campaign manager) makes Cosima switch hats (she has to hide her dreadlocks) and pretend to be Alison. Cosima is very near sighted without her glasses and cant see a thing.
Alison returns. Jason arrives saying he needs the money envelope. Then Alison's mom shows up. If that wasnt bad enough, Poachy's niece shows up in the school parking lot. She makes Alison sit in the car while counting the cash. If all the money isnt there, Donnie's nose will be cut off. That's not good. It's time for the candidate speeches. Cosima again must pose as Alison.
Would You Vote From Any Of These People?
Cosima doesnt stick to the cue cards--probably because she cant see them. Cosima says she is a lesbian during the speech (much to the surprise of everyone). Alison then switches back with her and managed to win the crowd over by talking about family and community. She says "I will be your mother hen and keep our chicks together".
They LIke Me. They Really Like Me.
In a surprise reveal, Connie goes into the rest room to tell Alison how proud she is of her and to give her the signed Bubbles papers. Alison reveals Cosima as her clone. But Mother Hendricks still doesnt buy it. She just thinks another woman got the same sperm at the fertility clinic. So their secret is safe for a little while longer.
Rachel and Scott pretend to be playing "Medieval Farm Building". I assume it's a real game? Rachel asks about the book. Its written in the secret language that she and Duncan shared. Meanwhile Cosima reveals to Shay that she is sick as she starts bleeding in the tub. This scene is intercut with Rachel who is finding the hidden message. She says she will only tell Sarah what it means.
Will Rachel Actually Do Something Helpful For A Change? I Doubt It.
Grade: 5 Monsters (out of 5). Perfection! This is the only time I've ever given back to back episodes of ANY series the highest rating possible. "Orphan Black" you must be doing something right. The scene with Mrs S and Helena making up was great. The entire school scene (which took up most of the episode) was wonderful. We got to see all of the clones this week. Donnie (ie Mr Chubbs) continued to be his weird and highly entertaining self. I loved meeting Connie. It's hard to believe there are only 3 episodes left this season. Time passes way too quickly in the clone-iverse.
