Once Upon A Time Season 4 Episodes 13 Thru 15 Reviews: I Got Your Back

As I have professed many times before, I only watch OUAT for Regina/The Evil Queen and Emma Swan. Thus my reviews focus primarily on them...so you've been forewarned.

Im Still Not Finding These Three Particularly Menacing

Episode 13: Darkness On The Edge of Town
After a three month absence OUAT returns with a new story line-- out with Frozen and in with the Queens of Darkness. They are: Cruella De Vil, Ursula and Maleficent. Two of three we've met previously on the show. Cruella is making her first appearance as far as I know. What these three are supposed to have in common, I have no idea.

When we last saw Rumple he had been exiled over the Storeybrooke town line for his dastardly deeds. He heads for New York City to round up Cruella and Ursula. They all want their happy endings too. The plan is to get the two ladies back into Storeybrooke by pretending they've given up their evil ways. However they have a secret history with Snow and David. Its something they dont want Emma to find out about.

Meanwhile Hook, Belle, Emma and Regina work to free the fairies from the sorcerer's hat. It's Hook's fault they're in there in the first place. Unfortunately a big black winged creature called a Chernabog is also released at the same time. It threatens to destroy the town. It seeks to eat the heart of the person who has the greatest potential for darkness. Regina thinks it's after her but it's really after Emma. So I guess Emma will turn to the dark side this season. How exciting!

Free Sushi To Whoever Let's Us Over The Town Line

The Chernabog is finally destroyed thanks to intel from Ursula and Cruella. Emma and Regina speed to the town line in the yellow bug. The creature is in hot pursuit. It latches onto the roof of the car. Regina tries to poof away to save Emma but it stays with the VW. Luckily Emma slingshots it over the line and it's fried. Too bad. I kinda liked that thing. It would have been fun if it terrorized the residents all season. As a reward for their help, Ursula and Cruella are allowed back into Storeybrooke. They secretly let Rumple back in too.

What About My Happy Ending?

This episode have several great scenes with Regina and Emma. Wonderful! Please keep it up. Who can deny that they have great chemistry together?

Episode 14: Unforgiven
Emma knows something is up but is not sure of the specifics. Everyone is keeping secrets from her. Maleficent is raised from the dead. I was wondering how they were going to do that since she was killed in a previous season.

Please Repeat After Me: Emma Swan Is My Happy Ending

Meanwhile Regina is trying to find out who wrote the story book. She wants to quiz Pinocchio/August (but remember he's a little boy now). She gets a little aggressive and is sent away. Gepetto/Marcus later feels sorry for Regina and gives her the saddlebags off of Pin's motorcycle. They might hold a clue.

Baby Wars

Back in FTL (Fairy Tale Land) we learn that Snow is responsible for the death of Maleficent's child. Oh dear. Emma was born with a great potential for evil so that's why they're trying to keep it a secret from her (among other things). Back in Storeybrooke, Snow confides her secret to Regina. For two sworn enemies, those two certainly do end up confiding in each other a lot. Regina agrees to go undercover with the Queens and try figure out what they're up to. I'm not sure this is a good idea lest Regina be lured over to the dark side again (and undo all the work she's done to redeem herself).

How Are We Going To Fix This Mess?

Rumple also sees Will Scarlett and Belle kiss. Uh oh. Trouble is brewing. And as you've determined from the episode title "Unforgiven" Belle is still not accepting Rumple back. Good for her. He's an evil, evil man.

The Ladies Are Rocking The Wardrobe This Week

Episode 15: Enter The Dragon
Regina infiltrates the Queens in order to learn their plan. She has to use magic, drink lots, set the police car on fire and kidnap Pinocchio in order to prove she's on their side. But they want the same thing she does-- their own happy endings (which means the heroes wont get theirs). Emma tells Regina she has her back. Regina does not tell Emma that she's doing this to protect her.

We see flashbacks of Regina and Rumple and then Regina and Maleficent in FTL. Regina helped Maleficent get her dragon back on. We also Mal using the sleeping cure on Aurora (which is where we met her several years ago). Regina learns Rumple is back in town. He turns Pinocchio from a little boy back into his adult August self (so Rumple can torture him next week).

In other news Rumple now has the dagger back from Belle by disguising himself as Hook. That Crocodile!

My Super Powers Tell Me Something Is Up

Every time I see Maleficent I still think of Pam "from True Blood". I loved her hair though in the FTL flashback and her outfit when she was at Regina's. Those two might need a spinoff of their own.

Favorite Quotes:

"The brighter the light the deeper the shadow” referring to why the Chernabog was after Emma.
"If there's a dwarf named evil-y?' Emma and Regina trying to figure out who the Chernabog is after.
Hook: "I'm sure the savior and the evil queen can come up with a way to defeat this beat." Regina: "Drop the "e" word already!"
Ursula: "Who are you?" Maleficent: "Im the person who is trying not to get strangled or impregnated. I dont know what those tentacles are for."
"It's too late. I'm not going to let both of us die in this yellow coffin on wheels."- Regina to Emma as they're being attacked by the demon.
Emma: "Regina who is it?" Regina: "Its the sea bitch."
Ursula to Regina and Emma: "Is one of those problems a hell bat with beady eyes and devil horns?"
Regina: "Welcome to Storeybrooke." Cruella: "Thank you Regina, you wont regret it." Regina: "I better not."
"Should have known that fish sticks and pound puppy were here for more than a second chance."- Regina about Ursula and Cruella.
"Those two might be tactless morons but they couldnt magic their way out of a paper bag."- Regina about Cruella and Ursula.

Grade: 4 1/2 Monsters (out of 5). Any episodes with lots of Regina gets higher ratings... its doesnt really matter what she's doing. I cant wait to see Emma turn evil and fight Regina... and then hopefully make up. That will be some great TV!
