Somewhere in the desert Tanner and Carlos figure out the prophecy thanks to the additional bonds. Kate has to sacrifice an innocent person as part of the aforementioned prophecy. I'm still not sure what it all means. It's kinda confusing. Anyway Kate is shot by Carlos. Scott wants to turn her into a culebra but he respects her wishes. We think Kate is dead which is fine with me cause she gets on my nerves...until the final scene where she awakes thanks to help from the santa sangre blood. Her eyes are all red. Oh, good lord. We're never going to get rid of that girl.
Scott agrees to drive the trucker filled with blood back to the bar for Carlos. We know he has something up his sleeve and will get revenge for Kate's (supposed) death.
Over in the other story line, the plan is to sneak into Jackknife Jed's by using a Greely meat truck. Santanico is put into a coma so Malvado cant track her psychically. I keep forgetting he can do that. He doesnt seem to be trying too hard to capture her. Richie kills Greely's manager and takes on his identity. When they arrive at the bar, Richie and Winchester Greely first meet with the Arbiter. That guy is super freaky. He has four arms. What is it with these guys and skinning? Malvado has a face coat (no I didnt make that up). The Arbiter skins poor Greely. Nasty stuff. As predicted Sonja is in cahoots with Malvado. Luckily she is dispatched quickly.
Freddie is nearly buried alive but manages to survive. How many near death experiences is that poor guy going to have? He is visited by a woman named Lorena (Emily Rios) who says she works for another (female) lord. Freddie must fulfill his destiny and put Richie on the throne in Malvado's place. This will keep Carlos from trying to bring the culebra out of the shadows. OK, whatever. I'm still confused about all this prophecy stuff.
Episode Guide:
Episode 7: Bring Me The Head of Santanico Pandemonium
Episode 8: The Last Temptation of Richard Gecko
Episode 9: There Will Be Blood
Episode 10: Santa Sangre
Grade: 4 Monsters (out of 5). Not bad but I was hoping for an epic battle between Malvado and Santanico during the finale. You know what they say about expectation. Also, as I mentioned previously, some of the plot points and character motivations are quite confusing. All in all, it's still a unique spin on the vampire story.
"From Dusk Til Dawn" will be back for a third season. It probably didnt hurt that Robert Rodriguez has his own TV channel for it to air on-- El Rey. If Santanico/Kisha is back next year, I'm all in.
