ZNation Season 2 Episode 9 Review: Aliens Vs Zombies

Operation Bitemark is in Roswell New Mexico this week (referred to as "RoZwell"). We all know what means. It's time to see "Z Nation's" take on aliens. The episode begins with a woman running down an abandoned road. A zombie chases her. Just then, a spaceship shows up. The zombie is sliced into sections. The woman is left alive.

Our team heads to a diner looking for supplies. Instead they find a bunch of people waiting for spaceships to pick them up. They prefer to be called "extranauts". Bernadette (the woman we met previously) is psychically connecting with the aliens. They plan to pick up the chosen ones and take them to their home planet.

Off the team goes to the secret base. They're hoping to find a plane (or spaceship) to make their trip to California quicker. 10K is a true believer. Murphy thinks it's all hogwash. Warren says her father was Air Force pilot and saw "stuff".

In the end, the "aliens" turn out to be workers in alien outfits who were zombified long ago. But if they were ACTUAL aliens, the group would have blasted them anyway. When Bernadette asked why they were killed, Murphy replies with "That's what we do".

In an underground base, Addy accesses a computer system that knows a LOT about Murphy. It also references a place called "Zona". We never get the answer to where Zona is. I'm going with "AriZona".

The team shoots down a spaceship but the pilot is that creepy guy (Dan Scully) they met back at the diner. He confesses there were never any aliens and that he has the hots for Bernadette. He dies, quickly turns into a Z, and is whacked. Case closed.

Grade: 4 Monsters (out of 5). "RoZwell" is a little light on substance but makes up for it with good alien fun. The secret elevator scene (pull the gum) was laughable. I enjoyed meeting Bernadette and Dan. I wish our team could have spent more time with them. And how cool would it be if there were "real" aliens in the "Z Nation" universe? Maybe like Dan said, they created the original Z virus.
