There's Something Different About You
Episode 3 of "Intruders" is entitled "Time Has Come Today". Much of the episode is spent with Jack and Amy and their disintegrating marriage. But the most shocking scenes belong to Madi-Marcus. Incidentally what pronoun do you use to refer to Madi-Marcus? I'm going with "he" when Marcus is obviously in charge and "she" when Madison is in charge.

If A Little Girl Offers You Lots Of Cash...
As you recall from last week Madi-Marcus wants to go to Seattle. A wad of cash is waved in front of Karen until she agrees. On the trip Marcus goes off about Mozart and how some girl was killed in 1791 (during the first playing of this concerto). Obviously Marcus is a lot older than we thought. Odds are he killed that little girl too. Karen realizes something is seriously wrong with her passenger. When Mardi-Marcus is asleep, Karen grabs the 9 card and uses a pay phone to call the number of the back. She gives Shepherd their location. Marcus shows up and goes ballistic. He proceeds to beat up the phone receiver. Then he concocts some bull story about how Shepherd is Madison's uncle (and that he had molested her). The mood lightens. Karen and Madison walk around the corner together laughing. Then we hear several loud thuds. Marcus has killed Karen. Is anyone surprised by that? Not I. Shepherd later shows up. He finds poor Karen in a bathroom stall. Shepherd burns her car and disposes of her remains so she cant be identified.

I Will Give You This Lovely Sand Dollar If You Help Me Live Forever
We see in flashback that Shepherd was originally sent to kill Marcus. The 9 had turned against him. Instead Marcus gives Shepherd a large sum of money to pretend he's dead. Shepherd will then revive Marcus at a later date (so he can seek his revenge). Marcus gives Richard the sand dollar and says his trademark phrase "Remember Shepherd, what goes around, comes around". Over to Amy and Jack. Jack returns home to find Amy. She says she got back yesterday (just like she said she would). Amy has an answer for all of Jack's questions. She didnt tell her employer where she was because she was interviewing with other firms. She couldnt call because she lost her phone and because she couldnt remember his phone number (she only uses speed dial).
It doesnt help that Jack is drinking. Apparently he's had problems with the sauce previously. Amy pours a bottle of booze down the sink.

I Want To Have Sex With You But The Russian Secret Service Agent Inside Me Does Not
Amy first says she loves Jack and will never leave him. She calls him her "Shepherd". Then the next thing we know, she's saying she wants a separation. She tells Jack its not him, its her. She needs to leave herself. She also starts spouting off some death-is-not-the-end stuff. “We don’t die. Thoughts of death are for the ignorant. We die but we can come back.”
Flashback to when Jack was a cop in LA. He shot 3 men. He says Amy saved his life. We also learn that Amy lost a baby at some point. It was painful to watch these too since it felt like a real breakup. Both sides know what is inevitable but still try to hold on as long as possible.
Next Gary calls Jack and tells him that Amy is involved with the Anderson family's murders.
On a someway related note, what's up with bookstore owner/ friend Bobbi holding a gun on Jack when he returned their car? That was very strange. Has she been "9ed" as well?
Favorite Quotes:
- "Im not leaving you, I'm leaving myself"- Amy to Jack right after she said she would never leave him.
- "I guess you learn something about someone after a few thousand years."- Shepherd to Marcus.
- “We don’t die. Thoughts of death are for the ignorant. We die but we can come back.”- Amy and whoever else is in her body.
Grade: 4 Monsters (out of 5). Some have complained of "Intruders" slow pace but there are only 8 episodes total (so I dont think its a problem). I'm still enjoying this super creepy show with it's cryptic plot. And I've said it before but Millie Brown (Madison-Marcus) and Mia Sorvino (Amy) continue to knock it out of the park.
