Wayward Pines Episode 7 Review: This Fake Little Town Is All Thats Left

Ethan returns to Wayward Pines in this week's episode entitled "Betrayal". Despite Pilcher's warnings against it, he tries to share the "truth" with first Theresa and later Kate. They're not buying it. Maybe he hit his head or was brainwashed. It couldnt be the year 4028. Theresa is also still obsessed with mysterious Lot 33.

How Come Ethan Gets Two Ladies In The Future & The Other Poor Smucks Dont Get Any?

Later Theresa and Kate meet and discuss their shared man. Yep he's cray cray. Kate also confides that back in 2014 she called the FBI office and connected with her boss (Hassler). He said another FBI agent would be arrives to test her (and that this was some sort of government experiment)? I have no idea how this fits into the show but I'm sure it will at some point.

Speaking of Kate, she, hubby Harold, Ted the delivery man, and explosives expert Franklin are planing to blow a hole in the fence and escape the town. Ethan earlier found a bomb in his police vehicle (but luckily it didnt go off).

Over at school, creepy Mrs Fisher gives the kids the birds and bees speech-- Wayward Pines style. Your mate is probably in this room so couple up people! And quickly, because you are humanity's only hope. Opps, scratch that last sentence. Side Note: With all this procreation talk, where are all the children? I havent seen many little ones in town. Have you? There should be a thousand kids running the streets.

Go Ahead Sucker, Make My Day!

Next Ethan crashes the fence bombing party. He forces Franklin to defuse the bomb by holding a gun to Kate's head. We all know he wouldnt pull the trigger... or would he?

Amy encourages Ben to meet her at night (so she can get extra credit in biology). That Amy is such an overachiever. Unfortunately ANOTHER bomb is in the delivery truck with them. It's in a music box and, as we all know, no teenage girl can resist a music box for some reason. At the end of the episode, the truck explodes as Ethan chases behind it. Amy appears in shock but is OK. I'm not so sure about Ben. He's on the ground unconscious. Is Ben dead?

Favorite Quotes:

  • "Tell no one what you saw and heard"- Pilcher to Ethan.
  • "This fake little town is all that's left"- Ethan to Theresa.
  • "It's not going to stop. It's just begun."- Kate to Ethan.
  • "The perfect Wayward Pines couple...dont let me down"- Nurse Pam to Harold and Kate about why they havent had a baby.

Grade: 3 1/2 Monsters (out of 5). Ethan returns to town where neither Theresa nor Kate believe his story about it being 4028. Meanwhile Kate and crew try to set off a bomb (or two) and escape Wayward Pines. I really dont think lying to these people is having the desired effect (especially if the abbies end up overrunning the town). What will happen in the remaining 3 episodes? And can we trust Pilcher's story as presented to us thus far? I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop.
