In "Alligator Alley" Amber, an Army instructor, and Ryan, an ex marine and current survivalist, are trying to make it 21 days in the Florida Everglades. There are lots of gators, lots of snakes and of course lots of swamp. In seasons past, each contestant would bring one survival item which was highlighted on the show. Dont know if this is true or not, I read elsewhere the show is providing a flint, machete and pot to each team this year (in order to increase their chances of survival).
Ryan and Amber
Later Amber gets very sick. They're not sure why because they both ate the exact same things. Amber taps out on day 16 to seek medical attention. Ryan is left alone. He does well though and kills an alligator. I will say that Ryan and Amber worked well together (before she had to tap out)-- unlike others we know.
PSR (Primitive Survival Rating):
Ryan beginning 7.9; ending 8.3
Amber beginning 7.8; ending 7.4 (Amber had to tap out on day 16 due to food poisoning)
Christina and Steve
Steve captures a snake but doesnt want to kill him (because he loves snakes). He does it though since he's starving.
Uhhh, you can tell there are going to be problems right off the bat-- when Christina declares she will make the jungle her "bitch". Christina complains continually about the mosquitoes, the shelter Steve made, and everything else. Steve tries to remain positive but cant take much more. Christina even tells him to kiss her ass at some point. Steve is a better person than me. I wanted to reach through my TV and strangle Christina.
They have not been able to find much food and Christina is on the verge of tapping out. Steve finds two toads which they eat. They both make it to the extraction point (thanks to Steve).
PSR (Primitive Survival Rating):
Steve beginning 7.2; ending 7.9
Christina beginning 6.4; ending 6.7
Season 4 Episode Guide:
- Episode 1 "Alligator Alley"
- Episode 2 "Rumble In The Jungle"
- Episode 3 "Mayan Sacrifice"
- Episode 4 "Edge of Madness"
- Episode 5 "Fire on the Mountain"
- Episode 6 "Lord of the Rats"
- Episode 7 "Colombian Conflict"
- Episode 8 "Garden of Evil"
- Episode 9 "Redemption Road"
Grade: No grade assigned since this is a reality show. But overall, these two episodes prove it is definitely the little things that get ya. The mosquitoes drove both couples crazy. And Amber succumbed to food poisoning. Also dealing with your partner is sometimes MUCH harder than the actual survival piece.
