Peter (now know as "Eli") chops up all the dead bodies from last week and then has sex with Anne in the shower... you know... to remove all the blood. It's too blurry to see the good stuff but we get the idea. The question is why spend any time on the dead bodies? Is this to prove how cray cray Eli and Anne are? Cause, if so, we already know that.
A New Family? Two CDC Doctors, A One Eyed Boy And An Immortal Fetus
Anyway, Eli and Anne (who I'm henceforth calling "Ali") give the word to the cultists (yes a surprising number are still alive) to kill the rest of the CDC docs. Olivia warns Kyle since he helped save her son Soren. Kyle and Soren hide in a closet as they see Eli strangle Olivia to death. Poor Soren. Looks like Kyle just got a foster kid.
Kyle and Sarah make their escape (with baby silver eye in tow). There's a leak in the baby jar. That's not good. Kyle McGyvers it by putting some chewing gun on the leak. Kyle must have been a boy scout. Sarah corners Anne and wants to know where the rest of the baby jars are. Anne wont talk so Sarah chops off her toes. Good. It's about time something bad happened to Anne. Off they go to the supply cabinet in the basement birthing chamber. Sarah is horrified by what she sees. She makes Anne untie everyone. Meanwhile Kyle calls for help. Uh, isnt he calling the same people that tried to kill them last week? If so, that's not such a good idea.
Haaa, Eli What A Wienie!
As we learned last week, the Mother root is dead so cant be used by Ilaria. Julia wants Anne's help in located the original tree. Anne says she has to ask permission from Eli first. When Julia sees that Eli is really Peter, she laughs hysterically (and so do I). Later Julia cuts the Mother Tree painting from it's frame and takes off.
Is It The End Of The Line For Alan?
Julia and Alan talk about old times as they attempt to find the tree's location based on the stars in the sky of the painting. Surprise! It's under the sanctuary. That was an interesting reveal. They go into the tunnels under the sanctuary. There's tons of usable trees, roots and soil down there. Just then, Alan pulls a gun on Julia. He says he cant let her sterile the human population. She says she's trying to save everyone's lives. She then pulls a gun on him. The screen goes black and we hear a gunshot. And end scene. This would normally create suspense. However, we know that Julia lives because she comes to the island 30 years later and looks for Alan (with Caleb's help)... so what's the point?
Quickly, Crawl Away Baby While You Can
There was no mention or sightings of Sister Amy. I refuse to believe she's really dead. On an unrelated note, why does Peter spend so much time with that baby? I would guess it was Caleb but I thought Caleb was Sarah's son. Who knows.
Favorite Quotes:
- "There's no going back now"-Peter to Anne.
- Soren (after his mother is killed): "Now I'm all alone" Kyle: "I'll be your family"
- "Blood is meaningless, family is everything"- Peter/Eli
- "Dont apologize. I'm not Michael. You could never disappoint me"- Peter/Eli to Anne.
- "I'm not leaving without you or your son"- Kyle to Sarah.
- "If you do this, you're as bad as they are"- Alan to Julia.
- "It's Mother. She's everywhere". We know Jules is talking about the Monster tree but it made me laugh. All I thought of was Mother from "Bates Motel".
Grade: 3 Monsters (out of 5). Sorry "Helix" but it's time for this story to be over. Season 2 held my attention for a while but now it's just drawing things out too much. Hopefully next week's finale will be satisfying. If so I'll consider this season a success since we met some great characters. I simply LOVED Sister Amy and Michael. And I still find the Ilarians fascinating even though they havent gotten enough screen time.
