Nance On Stage
In episode 2 "Patron Of The Arts" Lizzie and Emma attend the theater. You have to give Lizzie credit. She's not hiding at home after her infamous case. She's out and about even though the town folk obviously hate her. Lizzie meets Nance (and actress who played a prominent role in the real Lizzie Borden's life).
On their way home from the show, Lizzie and Emma see a man beating a woman. Lizzie hits him over the head with a bottle and takes the woman home. Adele will her their new maid. It was also hinted that Adele might be Lizzie's love interest but apparently Lizzie's just keeping the girl around to torture here.
I Hope Charles Gets Hazard Pay
Meanwhile Pinkerton Detective Charles Siringo is still hot in pursuit of Lizzie. He tries to get the local police on his side but his theories fall on deaf ears.
A playwright (Spencer) tries to get in good with the Bordens so he can get some of their money. He performs some scenes for Lizzie and Emma in the barn. Lizzie loves it but Emma, not so much. Unfortunately the guy returns in a in a drunken stupor and attacks Adele. She tries to fend him off and stabs him with a pitchfork. Lizzie arrives to help. Yep it isnt enough to just let him bleed out. Lizzie has to make a few more quick stabs with the pitchfork to make sure he's good and dead. Lizzie then scolds Adele and tells her to get it together or else. Adele later wakes up in a coffin. Oh dear. That poor girl.
Mr Flowers Next To Some Flowers
In episode 3 "Flowers" we met Adele's previous employer. Mr Flowers is a pimp, thug and all around bad guy. That's a funny name for such a brute. Lizzie visits him and pays to keep Adele. Flowers seems OK with the arrangement but we know he'll be back.
The episode opens with two funerals. One is William Almy's. He's rich and has lots of people mourn him. Lizzie killed Almy but everyone thinks her half brother Will did it before hanging himself. The other funeral is Will's. No one attends Will's service except the Borden sisters. The workers accidentally drop his coffin on the way to the grave but no one cares. Oh let's not forget Lizzie killed Will too.
Adele Is Having A Very Bad Day/Week/Life
I thought Adele might be buried in Will's coffin but thank goodness she wasnt. She's actually in a coffin at the Borden's house. They must a few just lying around. Lizzie must buy them in bulk. Lizzie finally lets Adele out if she promises to be good. "Run Adele, run far away" I shout at the TV...but Adele doesnt listen to me.
Nan arrives back in town. It turns out Spencer was her brother. Oops says Lizzie. My bad. I wouldnt have stabbed him so many times if I had known. Charles warns Nan about how dangerous Lizzie is.
In a shocking twist it turns out Emma is the one that brought Siringo to town in the first place. She wanted him to clear Lizzie's name. Instead he is dead set on her guilt.
Flowers arrives at Lizzie's house. He's decided he wants a monthly payment of 15% of their family fortune or he'll take Adele away and do bad things to the sisters. Lizzie reluctantly agrees. She later uses Flowers to beat the crap out of Charles and deposit him outside of town. We know Charles is not gone yet. Lizzie needs someone to bring her to justice.
Lizzie throws a party. At first no one attends. The Borden's rich neighbors want nothing to do with them. Lizzie invites her next door who does not even try to hide her contempt. Better watch out lady. You and your little dog may be Lizzie's next victims.
Lizzie and Adele visit Flowers. I think she'll off Flowers which she does. But they Lizzie turns and slices Adele's throat. She then plants the knife and the switchblade on both dead victims. OK then. Apparently there is a two murder minimum in each episode.
Nan arrives at the party and sees all her New York friends inside. Since no locals would attend, Lizzie bussed (or should be say carriaged) them in. Lizzie begins to draw Nan tighter into her web.
