Gotham Episodes 19 Thru 20 Reviews: The Ogre May Have Met His Match

After a month long absence, "Gotham" returns with two fun episodes entitled "Birds Of Prey" and "Under The Knife".

Tell Me The Truth Or I'll Shoot You In The Stomach

We check in on Fish who is still being held captive by the Dollmaker-- although it looks like she's running the place. If I didnt know better I'd think she owned a spa. Fish begins to plot her escape but the Dollmaker catches her. She feigns innocence but he's no dummy. He says he will turn her into a horrible unspeakable creature if she tries again.

In other news, Selina and Bruce track down Reginald (Alfred's friend who stabbed him). Reggie finally confesses that he's working for Wayne Enterprises' Board of Directors (or at least Bunderslaw). Selina doesnt like that answer so gives him a little shove out the window. Bye, bye Reggie. Yes Selina is willing to get her hands dirty. Bruce, not so much.

There's a new baddie in town. He's a serial killer who is looking for the perfect mate. We also learn that if any of GCPD's finest try to investigate the Ogre, he kills their loved ones. It's later revealed that Commission Loeb put Gordon on the trail of the Ogre (probably in hopes of getting rid of the pesky detective once and for all). Also I may have completely missed it but how did the Ogre get his name? He doesnt look like Shrek.

Penguin is interested in buying a bar. He needs a place where he can off Maroni. That seems like a lot of works to me...but whatever. Did you notice that the bar owner is Rosa from "Orange Is The New Black"? My favorite line of hers is "Always so rude, that one." Anyway, Maroni retaliates against the Penguin by telling Mommy Cobblepot that her baby is a murderer. Now there's going to be hell to pay.

Run Fish Run! Or Maybe Swim. Just Get Outta There.

And back on the island, Fish makes a break for it. She sends some guys to a boat but they're just a decoy and are promptly killed. Fish takes off in a helicopter but is shot by the "Catcher" before she's home free. Does Fish survive or is she belly up?

In "Under The Knife" Gordo is still in hot pursuit of the Ogre/Milo Ventimigilia. They learn he had cosmetic surgery to change his looks. I think he killed his parents because his mommy didnt love him? Sorry, not sure. I wasnt really paying attention there.

A Young BatMan and CatWoman

Selina and Bruce have a date at the Wayne Enterprises Charity Ball. How sweet. Theyre actually trying to find out what the Wayne directors are up to.

Riddle Me This

Ed Nygma learns that Kristen is being abused by her cop boyfriend. OK looks like that guy is dead... and the Riddler is born?

I Love Ya Leslie But Ditch The Funny Hat

Jim runs to Leslie's house to warn her about the Ogre but she's OK. I enjoyed the tub scene. More please! Meanwhile Barbara unknowingly goes on a date with the Ogre. He pulls a knife on her but, after learning how bat shit crazy she is, decides against it. He also finds out Barbara means nothing to Gordo when she says "If I got hit by a bus tomorrow, no one would care". We may have a love connection folks.

Grade: 4 Monsters (out of 5). I enjoyed these two much more than some earlier episodes. And speaking of episodes, there are only two left this season. i hope this sometimes uneven series has finally found come into it's own and ends with a bang.
