Cotton and Wainwright meet. Wainwright makes several comments implying that those who believe in witches are mentally weak. Wainwright you are SO wrong. Cotton sees the Malum. We know it's opening is what released the witch pox and infected Issac.
Speaking of poor Issac, he has been kidnapped. Mercy continues to do strange things to him. I'm not sure what she's trying to accomplish. Issac tries to protect Dolly even while being tortured. He may be the best person on this show.
Time For A Light Snack
Tituba goes into the woods and finds Petrus dead. She promptly gauges out his eyeballs and eats them. Slurp! She then reports to Mary that they are missing. Tituba is going to stab Mary in the back big time one day.
Make Sure You Write Legibly So I Can Easily Read It
Mary visits Anne. She gives her a Book of Shadows. Anne is to write all her thoughts and spells in it. Its supposed to be viewable only to Anne but Mary can read everything. Anne's familiar Brown Jenkins arrives. He's a cute little mouse. He joins Todd the Toad (Mary's familiar) and Tituba's unnamed big hairy spider.
Welcome Mr Brown Jenkins
Mary learns that the creature that attacked her in the tub came through the well. She sends Anne down into it. Anne must drown a kitten (boo!) and do an incantation. The creature appears and almost drowns Anne but she completes the spell and collects a vial of water.
"Giving The Finger" Puritan Style
Mary and Tituba search for the witch killer. They steal Corwin's finger and use it as a compass. It points them to Knocker's Hole. They search the building but John has disguised himself using the medicine pouch. We see the roots from the land absorbing and hiding him.If he stays like this too long, he will die. We think Mary will catch him at one point since she is inches away. He barely escapes. Fun scene!
Wainwright Definitely Has A Thing For Mary
(But I Dont Think She Gives One Iota About Him)
In the most tantalizing scene of the episode, Wainwright visits Mary at home late at night. Sexy talk ensues. He then restrains her hands and uh... how should I describe it... pleasures her orally. Mary now firmly has Wainwright under her spell.
Later John approaches Cotton. Cotton utters "but you're dead" before John punches him in the face. Well hello to you too.
My only regret about this episode is we didnt get to see Countess Marburg. Maybe next week.
Does This Mask Make Me Look Fat?
Favorite Quotes:
- "Bring out your dead"- the carrier of the dead.
- "There is no magic without arousal."- Mary to Anne.
- "I will do no harm"- Anne writing in her journal. Anne you might want to reconsider that and harm Mary.
- "Salem is almost as sick of witch hunters as it is of witches"- Hawthorne to Cotton.
- "But you're dead"- Cotton to John before he punches him.
- "I am fully prepared to cut your candle short"- Mary.
- "You can not taste freedom until you confront your most crippling fear"- Mary to Anne.
Grade: 4 Monsters (out of 5). I enjoyed the scary and sexy times. Please keep it up "Salem". That's what makes this show so great. Oh and Mary calling Anne a ginger witch was too funny. Somehow I'm thinking they didnt refer to redheads as "gingers" back then but what do I know.
