American Horror Story Coven Episode 4 Recap: Bull Head in A Box

I swear Ryan Murphy must make a list to see how many weirdo/ taboo topics he can cram into each season.  Season 1 was ghosts, murder, school shootings, disfigured children, and crazy doctors. Season 2 was mental asylums, medical experimentation, demon possession, Nazi doctors, serial killers and aliens (we STILL don't know how that fit in). Season 3 has added witchcraft, voodoo, zombies, and incest (which out of this whole list is the most disturbing). It also flirts with beastiality (even though Bull Guy really just has a bull head on. You could take that off ya know. I'm just saying).

Where to start with this werk's "Fearful Pranks Ensue"? So much happens in each episode it's hard to keep track:
  • We thought Queenie was up for a little bull lovin' last week. Bull Guy (the Minotaur named Bastien) gored her instead. I guess he wasn't in the mood. Fiona sent his head back to Marie in a box. And so the Witch Wars have begun. I would like to mention that Bull Guy's eye was blinking while in the box. I think you can just stick his head on another body and he'll be as good as new. PS Sorry special effects department but that head looked really hokey. It wasn't even the same size as the other head.
  • The witch tribunal descends upon Miss Robichaux’s Academy for Exceptional Young Ladies. They were summoned by Nan because she couldn't hear Madison's voice anymore. Led by Myrtle Snow (played by the show regular Frances Conroy), the group includes Quentin, a best selling novelist (Leslie Jordan) and Pembrook (Robin Bartlett). They quiz all the residents. Delia may or may not have lied concerning Madison having a heart murmur. If so, Fiona couldnt / wouldn't have killed her because she was not in perfect health so couldn't be the next Supreme.
  • Spaulding gets crazier by the minute. His tongue had been enchanted years ago so he couldn't lie. So he cut it off right after he told Fiona he loved her. Apparently he likes to play with dolls and now has a lifesaver dead one (maybe) in Madison to play with.
  • FrankenKyle is on the loose in New Orleans. Good timing on his part sine Zoe was planning to kill him with poisoned tuna fish. Given that its Halloween it may take him a few days to be discovered.
  • In retaliation for Bull Guy's severed head being FedExed to them, Marie raises an army of zombies. This is not the first time she's done this since we saw in the opening scene white jerks killed by zombies for chasing down a boy on a bike. Way to go zombies! ZOMBIE JUSTICE RULES!
  • Included in the zombies outside the school are LaLaurie's three long dead daughters. That was a fun scene. I just love Kathy Bates! How are they going to get out of this pickle?
  • We learned that Delia's husband Hank is not a nice guy. He's actually a serial killer who offed a woman in a hotel room. Did you catch that she was Young Myra (Alexandra Breckenridge) from season 1? And in the final scene, someone throws acid in Delia's face while she was in the bathroom. Poor Sarah Paulson can't catch a break. She was already put through the wringer last season.
  • No sightings of Misty Day this week. You can bet she's still dancing to Stevie Nicks tunes.
  • And everyone possible has been guessed as the new Supreme so I won't even bother.

Grade: 4 Monsters (out of 5). This show is one of the things I look forward to each week.  You know you're hooked when you have to plan you life around AHS.
