Still Trying To Work An Angle
Next Chilton visits Alana in the hospital. She somehow survived the push from the second floor but is in traction (or at least I think that's traction). I'm not really sure what that device does. We later see her in a wheelchair at Hannibal's old residence. She encounters Will who says he is creating rooms in his mind palace for all his friends and would like to be alone. He is there with Imaginary Abigail.
Alana Crosses To The Dark Side
Several months later, Alana (who now only uses a cane) goes to see Mason. She also runs into Margo at the stables. Alana agrees to be Mason's new therapist. She understands what Mason is trying to do (ie kill Hannibal) and doesnt have a problem with it. Yeah! It's about time Alana grew a pair. Mason is also assisted by his therapist Cordell (who is happy to take on the challenge of making sure Hannibal is eaten alive).
So You Dont Have To Die Alone
Bella is becoming weaker and weaker. Remember last season she ODed and died but Hannibal brought her back. Jack finally gives her extra morphine so she no longer has to suffer. He is at the church and sees flowers and a handwritten card from Hannibal. All the scenes with Jack (Laurence Fishburne) and his IRL wife (Gina Torres) were very touching. In a show that is routinely about murder, the scene of her death by natural causes was the most powerful of all.
Someone Is Going To Get Stabbed Again Cause He's A Big Dummy
Lastly, we check in with Will. He finally admits to Jack that he wanted to run away with Hannibal. And in the final scene Will is in a boat. Apparently he built it in his garage and sailed to Italy to find Hannibal. I only have one (err two) questions. Where are all the dogs Will? Are they on the boat?
Favorite Quotes:
- "You show me yours and I'll show you mine"- Mason to Chilton.
- "First thing you did after getting shot was copyright 'Hannibal the Cannibal'"- Jack to Chilton.
- "I know whats coming for you Will. You dont have to die on me too."-Jack.
- "Being broken was his breakthrough"- Alana about Will.
- "If my brother offers you chocolate, politely refuse"- Margot to Alana.
- "Friendship with Hannibal is blackmail elevated to the height of love"- Alana.
- "Religion is not all that its cracked up to be Mr Verger. I dont need religion to appreciate the Old Testament idea of revenge."- Alana to Mason.
Grade: 5 Monsters (out of 5). The scenes with Jack and Bella were perfect (especially since they're a real life couple). I'm SO happy Alana is finally becoming a more fleshed out character. She irritated me last season. And I'm sure you've heard the sad news that "Hannibal" has been canceled by NBC. Here's hoping it finds another home (maybe Netflix?) since I really do love the show. There is nothing like it on television.
