Wayward Pines Episode 6 Review: The Coming Crisis

This week's episode of "Wayward Pines" (entitled "Choices") gives us LOTS more answers. Yeah! One of the biggest reveals is that Pam and David Pilcher are... wait for it... they are brother and sister. Wow, that's a shock. I dont see the family resemblance. Do you?. We also get a behind the scenes look at Pilcher's headquarters. It's hidden in a mountain overlooking Wayward Pines. A number of people volunteer to watch the hidden cameras, make clothes, service the cryogenic chambers, act as phone operators, repair the helicopter, etc.

Who Should We Thaw Out Next?

The whole phone setup is just weird. Every time a Wayward Pines resident calls out, they reach one of the operators who say they will take a message for their loved one (but of course we're in 4028 so messages will be retrieved). Why not just get rid of the phones? It would save a lot of work. But no one asked me.

Is This Our Future?

We see several flashbacks. Dr Pilcher tried to warn others of what was happening with his book "The Coming Crisis". But everyone made fun of his. Luckily Pam supported him and they were later joined by Megan. We also see Pope (who was a security guard at Pilcher Technologies back in the day). Basically David decided who he wanted and Pope helped kidnap them. I know they're trying to save humanity and all but still. Apparently they originally asked for volunteers but no one signed up (except for maybe Megan). What made David so sure there would be anything left when they wake up 2000 years later? And who guarded the cryogenic chambers in the meantime? I know they were hidden in a mountain but 2000 years is a long time.

Group A Doesnt Work Out As Well As I Had Hoped

If you, like I, are wondering why David doesnt just tell the citizens the truth, it's because he tried previously with disastrous results. Everyone went crazy and killed themselves and/or each other. They even blew up the town. And since history repeats itself, we flash over to Kate, Harold and Ted (the delivery guy). They are currently planning to blow up the town... again. Unfortunately they dont know that's a really bad idea.

Theresa continues to snoop around town for answers. What's up with plot 33? Ben isnt handling last week's school orientation very well. He may crack any second.

Grade: 5 Monsters (out of 5). We now have most of the major questions answered... unless this is all a lie. I'm still not sure what to believe. If this is all a trick, it's a really elaborate one. If I found myself in this dytopian future, I'd probably play along and do my thing in town too. The only other option would be to try to tame an abbie (and that doesnt look easy).
