Its election time in Defiance. The two contenders are Datak and Amanda (who is the current mayor). Datak wants to turn the good citizens against Amanda. He devises an elaborate plan that would only work in the movies.
Stahma tells Kenya that Amanda is going to be assassinated. Kenya of course runs and tells her sister. Nolan sees someone with a gun and fatally shoots him. Unfortunately the Casti teenager was only armed with a paint gun. This of course is all part of the Tarr's plan. Datak announces that Nolan is a war criminal and has killed many aliens. The Earth Republic gave Datak the intel on Nolan because they want to take over Defiance.
Kenya has an ugly confrontation with Stahma for setting her up. Kenya threatens to tell Datak and everyone else about their relationship-- NOT a good move Kenya! Stahma's response is "This will end very badly for you...I love Datak because of his cruelty. We are a team". Poor Kenya doesn't know when she's being played and worse yet, I fear Stahma is going to help her have a "little" accident. Stahma really is the mastermind of everything that is going on in Defiance.
I've said it before but Stahma is the best character on this show and one of my favorites on television. I also have begrudgingly grown to love Datak (I know, I'm ashamed of myself). Jaime Murray and Tony Curran better win lots awards for this show.
Meanwhile Doc Yewell is doing some strange experiments with the gold Macguffin thingy (Kaziri). Tommy and Irisa are having an intimate moment when she becomes paralyzed (way to kill the mood). He takes her to the doc but she says nothing is wrong. While Nolan and Irisa are getting ready to leave town (they stop to beat the crap out of Datak) the same thing happens again. Back to the doc she goes. Apparently Irisa has another silver Kaziri implanted in her back. Yewell tries to operate to remove it but Irisa escapes and runs into the woods. I didn't see that one coming. Maybe the device is what's causing irisa's visions (or maybe she's just weird).
Grade: 4 1/2 Monsters (out of 5). This show just keeps getting better and better. I can't wait till the finale (which is next Monday).
