Sons Of Anarchy Episodes 12-13 Recaps: A Mothers Work Is Never Done (Season Finale)

And thus ends another season of "Sons Of Anarchy". If you haven't seen the final episode yet, turn back now.

In episode 12 "You Are My Sunshine" Jax is still trying to get SAMCRO out of the gun business and Tara is still trying to figure a way out of this mess without getting herself or the boys killed. Haven't we all been through this before? It feels like an eternity. This of course all leads up to the season finale.

In "A Mother's Work" Tara is in hiding with the boys (Abel and Thomas).Wendy is still on her way to rehab. Nero wants Gemma to run away with him but she cant leave Jax and the club. Nero apparently breaks up with her and goes to join the Mayans. Said Mayans kill a bunch of Mark's men. Yes there will be more payback next season.

The crew finds Tara in a park. How stupid to go with your lawyer and children to a park that you frequented previously. There is a super tense meeting between Jax and Tara. Jax agrees to turn himself in to protect Tara. It's about time you manned up! He says she wont be harmed and should just focus on "being a good mother". Jax may get out  of prison in 7 years with good behavior. Jax and Tara share a tender moment. She tells him she loves him. Jax tells Bobby he's in charge of SAMCRO. Jax whispered in Juice's ear that he betrayed him. That was a good scene too.

Someone REALLY should have updated Gemma. Last she heard from Wayne, Tara's lawyer called him for info so she must have betrayed the club. When Tara returns home, Gemma is there. She's drunk/high as a skunk and is dead set on REVENGE. A vicious fight ensues. Gemma hits Tara with an iron, then tries drowning her in a sink of dishwater. See this is why you should always drain the sink when you're done. While holding Tara's head underwater, Gemma stabs her multiple times in the back of the head with a carving fork. Ouch, that was a rough scene to watch. Officer Roosevelt hears the ruckus and comes runs in. He tells Gemma that Tara DID NOT betray Jax. Oops, my bad. So sorry! Then Juice enters the house and shoots Roosevelt in the back. He helps Gemma up and then goes to dispose of the murder weapons. Gemma drives to Unser's and cries on his shoulder. Are they going to be an item next year? If I were him, I'd run cause all her husbands/boyfriends end up dead.

Jax hugs all the club members and says goodbye since he's headed to prison. Was it just me or didn't that take forever? Can you speed up the goodbyes? Some of us have other things to do. Jax then goes home to find Tara's body. He hugs her and cries. That was a very powerful scene. Great acting! And a the worst possible time DA Patterson (CCH Pounder) shows up at the house and sees everything. Total cray cray.

What's your guess as to next season? Obviously two main characters (Clay and Tara) are dead. I fully expected Tara to get killed but I thought it would be at the hands of Jax and the club (and not Mommie Dearest). Nero appears to be with the Mayans. Unser and Gemma may shack up. Will Jax still have to serve prison time since Tara's dead? Is he going to be charged with murder? There are two dead bodies on his kitchen floor. Will he find out what happened and FINALLY kill his mother? IMHO that REALLY needs to happen before this show ends. Or does anyone even care at this point?

While the finale was a great one, overall I have been frustrated with the season's pace. I know they have to stretch it out to fill up as many episodes as possible. Does each episode really need to run ~80 minutes though? You could have said the same thing in 60 minutes. The finale was needlessly an hour and 51 minutes long. That's WAY too long to keep viewers interested.

Grade: I give the finale 4 1/2 Monsters (out of 5). For the season as a whole though I would  only give it 3 1/2. These stretched out plot lines just don't hold my attention. "Sons Of Anarchy" I love ya but you better pick up the pace next season if you expect me to keep watching.
