This week's episode entitled "Live Bees, Live Ammo" features a family in Texas who keeps lots of bees and a family in Utah that has lots of ammo. From the NatGeo website: "In Texas, John Tucker and his family are preparing for Category 5 hurricanes that they believe will change the landscape forever. After living in a home that was split in two during a hurricane, John vowed he would never again be unprepared. And in Utah, brothers Bret and Shane are preparing for a complete economic collapse. To protect their families, they are building a sniper post complete with the ultimate sniper rifle."
The segment about John and his bees was very interesting. Honey is a wonder food. It never spoils, it meets almost all the daily nutritional requirements and it can be used as an antibacterial to cover/ treat wounds.
- Prepper uses for honey: http://preppingtosurvive.com/2011/08/25/the-buzz-about-honey/
- The centrifuge John had for separating honey from the comb was very cool. If I had bees, I would definitely want one of those.
- Good site for all thing bees: http://www.honeybeesonline.com
- There's also a section in the latest "Mother Jones" about beekeeping if you're interested.
And what to say about segment two except those Mormons are always ahead of the curve when it comes to prepping.
