Siberia Episode 7 Recap: First Snow (And Dont Trust Esther Or Miljan)

At the end of the last episode, Daniel Johnny, Sam and Joyce were hiking to a radio tower that Daniel had seen in the distance. Instead, they found the crashed remnants of the helicopter everyone flew in on (but no sign of any bodies). Joyce finds the producer's notebook and pockets it.

And if that wasn't bad enough, it has begun to snow in Siberia and everyone is freezing. Sam falls in a river and gets frostbite in his foot so he cant walk. Sam tells them to leave him and keep hiking towards the light. Daniel insists on staying with him. So that leaves Joyce and Johnny continuing onward. They eventually find shelter under a tree and return for Daniel and Sam (who is near death). Johnny is able to start a fire with his lighter.
Meanwhile back at the cabins, Irene is still very sick. Sabina retrieves her hidden stash of food  from the cave and leads everyone to the destroyed producer's camp where they find clothes, blankets and more food. Miljan is getting crazier by the minute. He tries to strangle both Irene and Annie. Somebody needs to kill him. At least Neeko pummels him until Sabina restrains him. They then tie Miljan up in the other cabin.

The Revealer horn sounds. Esther had taken a key from the campsite that unlocks one of its doors. They find food, vodka, matches, sleeping pills, a fire extinguisher, and a copy of "The Idiot" inside. And just when I thought Esther was turning into a halfway decent human being, she reverts back to a sneaky snake and drugs everyone's drinks. They wake up the next morning with Irene and Miljan missing. But have no fear Sabina is onto Esther and will hopefully kick her ass.

Points to ponder:
  • If the helicopter crashed, where did Natalie go (and does anyone care at this point)?
  • What else did Esther pocket from the Revealer that Miljan know about (and how does he know about it since he was tied up)
  • Does Miljan know something from the journal that no one else knows? And why did he take Irene into the woods other than he's crazy?
  • What is the significance of the book "The Idiot" or is there any significance? Here's the plot per Wikipedia. The book is by Dostoyevsky. The 26-year-old Prince Lev Nikolayevich Myshkin returns to Russia after spending several years at a Swiss sanatorium. Scorned by the society of St. Petersburg for his trusting nature and naiveté, he finds himself at the center of a struggle between a beautiful kept woman and a virtuous and pretty young girl, both of whom win his affection. Unfortunately, Myshkin's very goodness precipitates disaster, leaving the impression that, in a world obsessed with money, power, and sexual conquest, a sanatorium may be the only place for a saint.

Grade: 4 1/2 Monsters (out of 5). Only two episodes to go and now I'm seriously hooked on "Siberia". I've gotten very attached to these people.
