The second half of the fifth season of Breaking Bad" began Sunday. It airs on AMC at 10 PM ET. We have seven more episodes to look forward to until the end of the series.
This week's episode begins with a flash forward. Walt returns to his abandoned, graffiti sprayed home. He runs into his neighbor Carol. She is completely shocked to see him and drops her groceries. That was funny. Anyway Walt goes into the house, unscrews an electrical outlet and retrieves a vial of ricin. What's he gonna do with that?
And then back to present day. When we last saw Hank, he was taking a potty break. Luckily reading material is provided in the White household (a copy of "Leaves of Grass"). Why can't they just have magazines like everyone else? Finally the jig is up. Hank knows that Walt is Heisenberg.
Meanwhile Jesse is trying to get rid of his "blood money" by giving it to deserving people. Saul is trying to disuade him.
Walt heads over to Hank's house. Hank's in the garage with all his boxes of evidence against Heisenberg. Walt pumps Hank for info but then he knows for sure. Hank is onto him. Hank closes the garage door behind Walt. Two very angry men in a small confined space is not a good idea. I wasn't sure what would happen next.
Hank says "It was you. All along, it was you. You drove into traffic to keep me from that laundry. That call I got, telling me Marie was in the hospital? That wasn't Pinkman. You had my cell number. You killed 10 witnesses to save your sorry ass. You bombed a nursing home. Heisenberg? Heisenberg! You two-faced sack of shit! I will put you under the jail." Walt's response is that his cancer is back so he'll never spend any time in jail. He'll be dead in six months. Hank pops him once on the jaw anyway.
Grade: 3 1/2 Monsters (out of 5). Great setup for the rest of the season. I would have liked to have seen a knockdown dragout between those two though.
