Sleepy Hollow Episode 6 Recap: The Sin Eater (A New Diet Craze)

Ichard has been abducted by forces unknown. His wife Katrina (the witch who is stuck in purgatory) comes to Abbie in a dream. Apparently when Katrina cast a protection spell on Ichy all those years ago, he was accidentally psychically bonded with the Headless Horseman. The Eater must separate the blood tie that links the two so Ichy will not be harmed when they kill HH.

Abbie goes to see her sister Jenny. She says every culture has their version of the Sin Eater. They reach inside a person's soul and sanctify their sins. Jenny and Abbie track the sin eater Henry Parrish (played by "Fringe's" John Noble) down. He was visiting death row inmates to eat their sins and then took on the last person's identity. Way to hide dude. You could just go by John Smith or some other fake name.

It turns out Crane was abducted by the Freemasons. I always suspected they were up to something big. But they're actually good guys here. They tell Ichy he has to drink poison in order to ensure that the Horseman will never return. Instead Abbie brings the Sin Eater and he absolved Ichy of his sins (which is a good thing since he already drank the potent). Crane's big "sin" was not forgiving himself for the murder of freed slave Arthur Bernard (but he didn't actually kill him, he was trying to save him). Seriously? That's all the sins ya got? I can top that. And we'll be seeing SE (Sin Eater) in later episodes. How would you like to have his job? Hmm let me dip this sponge in some blood and eat it. I think NOT!

Anyway, what a great scene with Ichy holding Abbie's hand after drinking the potent was a tear jerker. And they finally hug. Yeah! Those two have great chemistry.

We also get to see some of Ichabod and Katrina Von Tassel's backstory. She tells him he has the gift to bear witness (which Abbie also has). I just hope kiddies don't think this show is based on actual history. Otherwise in the Revolutionary War, we have the British and some demons against George Washington, the masons, some witches and assorted other freedom fighters.

"The next time you see that witch in a dream tell her to be more specific."- Jenny to Abbie about Katrina's cryptic message. That was funny.
"I am sanctified"- what ya say after the Sin Eater is done with you.
"The life you know will never return"- Bernard to Ichabod before he switched sides.

Grade: 4 Monsters (out of 5). That story line was a bit convoluted but who cares. Everyone on this show is just so pretty. I'm interested to see if Abbie and Ichabod will ever have a love connection. And we learn that Abbie loves baseball.
