Witches of East End Episodes 6 Recap: Potentia Noctis (Or How I Met Your Mother)

And we thought Ingrid was the quiet, sweet, librarian type.

This episode "Potentia Noctis" (meaning "power of night") was very Ingrid-centric. Fairhaven (the local hotel and convention center) is being renovated. Penelope brings Ingrid a picture that was found. It's of a woman that looks exactly like Ingrid and a little girl.

Ingrid eats some magic brownies and flashes back to circa 1906. She was madly in love with Archibald Browning (a really bad dude who was heavy into orgies and world domination). She even agreed to turn her back on her family to be with him. He also wanted Ingrid to kill Wendy but I'm hoping she drew the line at that. Anyhow, 1906 Ingrid was accidentally killed by Aunt Wendy while trying to protect Archibald's daughter Athena. Then Joanna killed Archibald.

Meanwhile Freya finds a magic whatever-it-is and takes it home. It turns out its a ramus mortium ("branch of death”) and whoever touches it will die. Well Dash touched it so guess what?

Later Freya finds a bunch of them in the subbasement of Fairhaven. How did the gang end up wandering around down there in the first place? Later Dash takes one of the twigs. That guy is just a glutton for punishment. Or is he? I think it will be revealed that he's actually evil.

And the big reveal of the night is... Wait for.... It's that Athena is really Penelope (Dash and Killian's mother). We all knew Penelope was up to something and now we know what. She's out to avenge her father's death. And she must be immortal because she would like 120 years old now.

Grade: 4 Monsters (out of 5). I really am enjoying this campy show. It's going to an uncomfortable Thanksgiving at the Beauchamp house since Wendy killed Ingrid in one of her past lives. PS Lifetime, please cut back on the Latin so I can stop being forced to look stuff up.
