This episode again focused on two families. My notes are in italics below.
Per the NatGeo website: Prepper Chad believes that a nuclear strike resulting in a genocidal siege is a real possibility. At his home in Arizona, he is working on executing the biggest prep of his life a 140-foot-long escape tunnel from his family's house to a bug-out vehicle. With the help of his wife Debbie and two daughter Heidi and Holly, he begins construction but as the project unfolds, they realize they're in over their heads.
Hey everyone, when you get to Chad's house during TEOTWAWKI be sure to look for a trashcan and a fake wall. That's their escape hatch. All kidding aside, 140 feet seems like a long way to crawl on a skateboard in a cramped tunnel. Why didn't they make it bigger to start with? Surely they thought about this before. The best idea from this segment in my opinion was the aquaponics food system he was using. He could then use the algae for biodiesel? Aquaponic kits are available for purchase here among other places: http://www.endlessfoodsystems.com
In North Carolina, Mike Evock, an former special forces operative, is preparing for a biological or chemical attack on the United States. He sees a nerve agent or chemical agent going airborne, and wreaking havoc on the masses. His exposure to intelligence during his time in the military has inspired him to prepare for the worst. He has an ATV park and built an ATV tank.
The best part about his setup is that he lives at his bug out location. And there's no danger of him not getting around since he has a gazillion ATVs.
Practical Preppers cave Chad a 79 and Mike a 68 (which is 16 months and 14 months of survival time respectively) per Twitter. Bring back the scores Doomsday Preppers! One of the best parts of the show was when the got their scores and then they completely disagreed with the assessment. Also @SurvivorJane reminded us on Twitter that this season of Doomsday Preppers is all about "the builds" #preppertalk
