Tonight on "Doomsday Preppers" we meet a family (lead by father Tyler) who plans to take all your stuff and another family (lead by father Kevin) who is more community oriented.
Not sure if DP was warning us that such people exist or they are scraping the bottom of the barrel for shows. Needless to say, marauders and thieves are the worst kind of scum to preppers and other decent law abiding citizens. Tyler please don't read the comments about you on Twitter (including mine). They are not kind and may make you cry.
While many preppers believe defense is the best strategy for surviving a Doomsday scenario, one family in Tacoma, Wash., is banking on a good offense. Tyler Smith, his wife and his cousin have assembled a group of like-minded, would-be marauders from their neighborhood in preparation for a catastrophic domestic terrorist attack. They have only six months' worth of food because they plan on taking what they need in order to survive (from NatGeo website).
Tyler is apparently the head of Spartan Survival which is a survival training program. It was started in 2005 a and has 80+ members. Smith says NatGeo got some info wrong on the show. They quote him as having six months of food but he says he has two years worth. And I REALLY hope he reconsiders doing any medical procedures on his wife. That made my skin crawl. I would also discourage procreating but it's too late for that.
Meanwhile Kevin Barber and his family moved from Kansas to Costa Rica to avoid a US economic collapse. He's working on an aquaponics system in order to be self reliant. Grade: no grade assigned since this is a reality show. If I was assigning grades though, I'd give Tyler an "F" on general principle.

ReplyDeletehe is a convicted felon and was dumb enough to show off his whole arsenal of firearms during the show what a dumbass. he was arrested for stealing a motorcycle which is believable due to him ranting about how he is going to steal your shit. he was also arrested for mollesting a drunken 14 year old girl in a parking lot instead of doing the right thing and taking her home. if he will do that in a parking lot to a complete stranger imagine what he does to his wife and kids....
ReplyDeleteI think this episode has caused more heated discussions than any other. I'm with ya. Tyler is a grade A dumbass. On a related topic, the new season of "Doomsday Preppers" starts tomorrow. Cant wait!
