There's A New Clone In Town!
I've said it before but Tatiana Maslany can do no wrong. First she's playing all the major characters in this show as they interact with each other. Now she's playing a transgendered clone as well. This show just keeps getting better and better. Here's the highlights from this episode entitled "Variable And Full of Perturbation".
Alison comes home from rehab to find Donnie drunk on her booze stash. That was funny. Alison catches Donnie trying to leave. They each confess to the other their past misdeeds-- Alison that she did nothing to help Aynsley and Donnie that he killed Dr. Leekie. However Dr Leekie's body is still in the trunk of Alison's car and Donnie put the gun back in Alison's gun locker. Donnie really does have a turnip for a brain. Better do something about that body stat. It's already stinking up the place.
Does anyone care what's happened to Helena? Cause it doesnt seem like it. We will see her next week though.
Tony Sawicki (the new clone) arrives looking for Beth. Beth told him previously that they might be related. He does not know what Beth looked like or that she is dead. His friend Sammy was killed. Was Sammy Tony's monitor? Sammy tells Tony to get a message to Beth. "Tell Beth to keep the faith. Paul's like me. He's in on it. He's a ghost". Tony is transgendered (previous name Antoinette). Felix calls Sarah over so they can explain. Tony leaves on a bus to hide but not before kissing Felix. Will we see him again? And if so, will there be a love connection with Felix?
Cosima continues her spat with Delphine for a while (by locking her out of the lab). They finally make up while getting high and inhaling helium. They confess their love for each other. Those two are so cute together.
Ethan Duncan visits the lab (thanks to Rachel's intervention). Cosima is running out of time for a cure. Cosima finally tells Scott that she is the clone they have been researching. At the end of the episode, Cosima collapses and has some sort of seizure. Oh dear, this doesnt look good.
There are several references in this episode to "The Island of Doctor Moreau” (both between Duncan and Kira and Duncan and Rachel). In the last scene we see Kira with notebook by that name. She flips through the pages which seem to have Ethan's cloning notes. Did he leave it with Kira for safe keeping? Is he going to try to kill the clones or save them? The jury is still out on him. I dont buy that he's a crazy old man.
Here's a recap of the clone count as it stands today:
- Tony- the newest clone, transgendered
- Sarah
- Beth-dead (jumped in front of a subway car)
- Cosima- lesbian
- Helena
- Alison
- Rachel-ProClone
- Jennifer- dead (from same illness as Cosima)
- Katja- dead (killed by Helena)
- Danielle- dead (lived in France)
- Aryanna- dead (lived in Rome)
- Janika- dead (lived in Austria)
