At first I was upset with the ending but I then I saw they're coming back for a second season. I'm calmer now. Damn you NetFlix for playing with my emotions!
Here's where we left off at the end of season 1:
- Peter- appeared to commit suicide by leaving his car running in a closed garage. But of course we know better. Didn't anyone find it strange that he was in the passenger's and not the driver's seat? I dont understand the point of killing him. He was finished anyway no matter what he did. Maybe it was so Frank could appear to be the grieving friend?
- Christina- is trying to ignore Peter's loss and keep working. Sometimes that's what ya gotta do to cope. Doug appeared when Janine tried to talk to her in the lunch room. It looks like Christine's starting to believe that things are not as they appear.
- Linda- is now on Frank's side due to him helping her son get into college.
- Doug- is still buzzing around doing Frank's dirty work. There's no telling what all he has done previously.
- Jim Matthews- (aks the Vice President) after Russo is out of the running (because he's dead) Frank develops an elaborate sceme to have Jim run for governor of Pennsylvania thus leaving his VP position open.
- Garrett Walker-(aka the President) wanted Frank to visit a billionaire named Raymond Tusk to tap him for vice president. However once again things are not as they appear. Tusk doesnt want to be VP. Frank of course does. Tusk wants Frank to grant him one "favor" in exchange for his support. Thus far Frank has not agreed and does not know what the favor is.
- Zoe- she agrees with Frank that they should break off their personal relationship. Zoe along with Janine and Lucas (who she is now involved with) are starting to zero in on Frank's involvement in this whole mess.
- Claire- is being sued by Gillian. She is claiming Claire discrimiated against her due to her pregnancy. She also opposses the CWI doing anything for Sandcorp (which Claire insists upon since she owes them a favor). Claire left Frank for a while and went to stay with her British boyfriend (Adam Galloway) in London. She came back when she heard he news of Russo's death (since she needed to play the grieving friend). At the end of episode 13 Claire is also investigating her options to have a baby.
- Frank- what to say about Frank? There is so much. He was turned down for the Secretary of State position in episode 1. Was his plan to become Vice President all along? If so, why? No one really cares about the vice president. Unless he's just using it as a stepping stone for a run for the presidency later (or God forbid he's going to knock off the president and then take his place). As we've seen previously, dont underestimate anything that Francis Underwood might do.

- Michael Kelly as Doug Stamper, Underwood's Chief of Staff, abettor and confidant.
- Sakina Jaffrey as Linda Vasquez, the President's newly-appointed White House Chief of Staff.
- Kristen Connolly as Christina Gallagher, a headstrong congressional staffer involved in a secret relationship with Peter Russo.
- Constance Zimmer as Janine Skorsky, a reporter for The Washington Herald(later Slugline) who becomes suspicious of Zoe's success.

Grade: 4 Monsters (out of 5). Because they sucked me into the story and now I really want to find out what happens to Frank, Claire, Zoe and the rest.
