This week's episode entitled "Delinquents" centers on camp for troubled teens. The delinquents (what happened to naming episodes with "fae" in them? did they run out?) are being killed by some tree like monster. Bo, Tyson, and Kenzi go undercover to investigate. Said monster leaves strange twig designs around as a calling card (a la Blair Witch Project). The story wasn't very compelling since the monster had to be one of the characters we met and there are only a few to choose from. The twist came when one of the campers was working with the shrub monster and tried to kill Lauren. The Tikbalang from folklore doesn't resemble the one in LG (see below). I guess a horse monster wouldn't be too scary. Just give him a carrot and he will be on his way.
Per Wikipedia: Tikbalang is a creature of Philippine folklore said to lurk in the mountains and forests of the Philippines. It is generally described as a tall, bony humanoid creature with disproportionately long limbs, to the point that its knees reach above its head when it squats down. It has the head and feet of an animal, most commonly a horse.
Tikbalangs are said to scare travelers and lead them astray. Tikbalangs play tricks on travelers such that they keep on returning to an arbitrary path no matter how far he goes or where he turns. Supposedly this is counteracted by wearing one's shirt inside out. Another countermeasure is to ask permission out loud to pass by or, not to produce too much noise while in the woods in order not to offend or disturb the tikbalang.
Anyway i digress. Back to the story. Tamsin must get one hair from someone Bo loves, two hairs from someone Bo trusts and three hairs from Bo and put them in a jar. Tamsin hugs Bo and says 'Im so sorry" to get her hair but Bo doesn't know what's about to happen. LG writers PLEASE don't make Tamsin go away. She is one of the best parts of this show. Ok so I'm a little mad at her right now for telling Lauren she kissed Bo but she still needs to stay on the show.
The other thing I really enjoyed about this episode was the breakup scene between Bo and Lauren. Oh the feels! Lauren says they need a break. "I think that I am always going to be asking from you more than you can give to me". Oh noooooo. We all know what that means. If they break up for good, I'm not watching this show anymore. Let 's face it, I'm not that interested in light or dark Fae. And now I have to go lay down and process my feelings about Bo and Lauren's relationship.
Wikipedia:
Episode 10 "Delinquents"
Bo, Kenzi and Dyson go undercover in a troubled youth camp to investigate a series of deaths and discover that a Tikbalang is killing them and stop it. However, it had a human mate who attacks Lauren in revenge, but Bo saves her. Tamsin is contacted by a bounty hunter friend who informs her that someone Tamsin is working for wants her to bring Bo to him. Tamsin does not want to and resists until her friend is killed. Tamsin plants doubt in Lauren about Bo and as a result of this and the attack on her, Lauren tells Bo that they need a break in their relationship. Bo understands this and walks away sadly. As all of this unfolds, Tamsin prepares to capture Bo and take her to the one that wants Bo.
Grade: 4 Monsters (3 Monsters for the story but 4 for all the emos). Zoie Palmer did a great job this episode. She is one of the few actresses that seems to be genuinely upset when she's crying.
