The Walking Dead Episode 12 Recap: Its Clear This Episode Is Perfection

Official synopsis; On tonight’s show Rick meets up with an old friend of his Morgan. Michonne, Rick and Carl go for a drive and come to the town where Rick use to be sheriff. Carl is not pleased that Michonne is with them and complains.

For those that don't remember Morgan, he saved Rick in episode 1 and told him what had happened. Morgan and his son Duane were held up in a house. Each night his zombie wife returned to the house. Morgan couldn't bring himself to kill her for good. Unfortunately we know how that turned out.

With this episode we see a change in Michonne's character. There were moments of humor. She was eating Morgan's food after he was temporarily knocked unconscious. Rick criticized her. Mich snaps back that the "doormat said welcome".  The relationship between Carl and Mich also changes when she helps him recover a photo of his family from a zombie infested cafe. He wants to give the photo to baby Judith. After they were initially chased out, Mich went back in for it under the guise that she wanted a God awful cat decoration. Carl later tells Rick that "she might be one of us". That's a bad sign. Whenever someone gets accepted by the group they get killed. And she was awful chatty (well chatty for Michonne). Chatty people get killed. Ask Prison Mustache Guy.

Rick and Morgan have a long discussion while the others are away. Morgan obviously has been alone too long. He's written all over the walls and keeps saying he's not clear, hence the title. Isn't "clear" a Scientology term? There are no Scientologists in the zombie apocalypse. Morgan feels abandoned by Rick. He says " I turned on that walkie talkie every day and you weren't there". What a great actor Lennie James is. I really felt his pain.  His speech was one of the most emotionally charged that I've seen on the show. Rick invited Morgan to come back with them Morgan declines. Like Greta Garbo he wants to be "left alone". Plus he's no dummy. They're about to get an ass kickin' from the Governor.

On the way into town, the group sees a guy in the distance screaming for them to help him. They ignore him. On the way back out of town they see nothing is left of him except some bloody spots. They stop to pick up his backpack since he won't need it anymore. That brings up an interesting question. Are you under any moral obligation to help others? If you are alone, your chances of survival are very low. Mich and Morgan survived but it seems few others have.

Grade: 5 Monsters (out of 5). Perfection. The perfect blend of human drama, zombies killin', gospel music and great cinematography.
