Episode 5: The union protests Claire's Clean Water Initiative event due to Frank's backing out on a promise. The hotel where the charity was originally scheduled wont let them in (since its union employees are threatening a walk out). The event is moved to outside the hotel instead. This is of course done against the hotel's wishes.
The dialogue still sounds strange to me at times. Examples: the conversation between Zoe and Frank before he shows up at her apartment and the conversation between Frank and Claire at their home. It seems like they're just running lines. And I the only one that thinks this?
Zoe has Frank take naked photos of her in order prove her trust. Zoe, bad idea. Those are going to come back and haunt you later. Apparently Claire doesn't mind if Frank cheats. She just asks what they can get from Zoe. Strange people.
In fact Frank and Claire show no emotion at times. They're kinda like lizards... just laying on a rock waiting for something to fly by that they can grab.
When Russo showed up at Frank's house I wasn't sure what would transpire. Frank forces him to take a bath and leaves a razor blade out. Frank tells Russo to decide if he's going to sober up and run for mayor or kill himself. Uh Frank what would ya have done with a dead body? How bout if Russo tried to hurt Frank and Claire? You are dealing with a drug addict. No telling what he could do.
Episode 6: This is the first time we've see Frank falter. He was confident he would excel in the TV education debate but he failed spectacularly. This made his character much more appealing to me. I still don't have Claire and Frank's relationship figured out. Are they together mainly for political purposes? There don't seem to be any romantic sparks between the two?
Frank brings an end to the teachers strike by getting Spinella to hit him. Frank confessed that Sparks (his assistant) threw the brick through his own window and then blamed the union. Claire was told to distract the secret service agent in the meantime. Favorite quote: “I’m a white trash cracker from a white trash town that no one would bother to piss on"- Frank to Spinella.
In other story lines, Russo has sobered up and is running for governor. Zoe is figuring out her new job. What do you make of the strange scene with Claire and the terminally ill secret service agent? I'm not sure what that meant.
Grade: 4 Monsters (out of 5). I find Frank and Claire's relationship to be more and more intriguing.
