The episode opens with Alak broadcasting "Old World" tunes from the St Louis Arch. Nolan and Amanda (with a suitcase of money) are escorting the Irathian Rynn to prison in Las Vegas. She got two years for trying to destroy the town with Hellbugs. There are several other people in the transport including an Earth rep and her two husbands and a priest. The priest hijacks them in the Defiance version of an Old West stagecoach robbery. They are hold up in the rover. Rynn who has been plotting an escape since the beginning finally gets away. The priest is eventually killed by Nolan. It turns out the Earth rep (Olfin Tennety) is the real mastermind behind the operation and is out to steal the money and bankrupt Defiance. Boo on the Earth Republic. Rynn comes back and saves Amanda and Nolan. She's not all bad, just a little crazy. Rynn then leaves with the erep's other husband in tow.
Back in town, Irisa see a Castithan that she thinks tortured her as a child. At first he denies all involvement but then says he tortured her in order to prepare her. Apparently she is the chosen one, life giver, and a bunch of other things I can't remember. We also see in a flashback how Nolan and other soldiers rescued her years ago. We think Irisa is going to kill him but finally decides against it (because its what he wants). She'd had Tommy handcuffed to something the whole time so he couldn't interfere. Tommy ends up punching the Casti a few times for good measure. Irisa and Tommy have frenzied sex. I didn't find anything titilating about the scene though. Am I the only one to think that?
And we're back where we started the episode. This time Olfin is being sent to prison though instead of Rynn. As soon as she gets on the bus she is unhandcuffed. Looks like she won't be serving any time. Olfin tells the guard she wants all the dirt she can get on Mayor Rosewater. Looks like well be hearing from the rep again.
Grade: 3 1/2 Monsters (out of 5). Not the strongest episode. i didn't really care about the erep storyline. I'm still liking the show very much though.
Who was the girl that was flirting with the castithan?
ReplyDeleteHmm not sure about episode 5. What did they look like? In episode 7 there is a scene with Kenya and Stahma. That's not what ya mean is it?
