The Americans Season 2 Episodes 5-6 Recaps: This Business Can Be Lonely

In "The Americans" episode 5 entitled "The Deal", the Israelis arrive. Much of the episode involves Phillip trying to get intel from a captured Mossad agent. He later trades him for Anton. The most cringe worthy moment was when Phillip had to help him "clean up" after a bathroom break. Meanwhile Liz disguises as Clarke's sister Jennifer, visits Martha to get her to not put Clarke's name on a job application. Martha tells her that Clarke is an animal in bed. You can bet this will cause marital problems for the Jennings later. Phillip's allegiance to the USSR and his humanity are tested big time (especially when the physicist begs to stay in the US to be with his children).

"Behind The Red Door" (episode 6) still has Liz trying to figure out what Martha was raving about. She tells Philip she wants to have sex with Clarke. Unsurprisingly the situation doesnt end well. In unrelated news, everyone is still on the lookout for Emmett and Leanne's killer. It turns out not to be Andrew Larrick. Claudia reveals to Liz that she might be responsible for the leak. She met someone and shared her true identity. Really bad idea. When Claudia said goodbye to Liz, it sounded very final. I really hope this is not the last we see of her. Meanwhile Lucia (the agent that Elizabeth helped earlier) gets Liz into a congressman's office to steal Arpanet intel. Lucia later kills the congressional aide who helped her with a dose of bad drugs. Oleg is still playing Stan about Nina or maybe Stan is playing Oleg. Who knows?
