At the end of the last episode Norman was kidnapped by someone. At the beginning of "The Box" he is stuffed into, you guessed it, a box out in the woods. Norma returns from her night of passion with George to find Norman missing.
Nick calls Norma. He says if Dylan does what he wants, Norman will be returned. And what he wants is Zane D-E-A-D. If Dylan fails Norman will be killed instead.
In related news, Romero asks his father's ex-partner to do an "off the books" polygraph test on Norman. He then approaches Norma about finding Norman's semen inside Mrs Watson. Needless to say, Norma does NOT take it well and starts hyperventilating.
Emma tells Norma she is quitting. Poor girl, she just wants to be included. She really should find another family to join and stay far away from this bat shit crazy one. Norma alienates George. He should be thankful that she's mean to him and run screaming in the other direction.
Dylan goes to tell Nick that he didnt kill Zane but knows where he is. Nick pulls a gun on him. Uh oh that's not good. Dylan turns the tables though and beats the crap out of Nick with a fireplace poker. Is he dead... cause he looked pretty dead to me. And let us not forget Zane is still alive and has declared war on his sister (so Dylan is in the middle no matter what he does).
Romero pushes his way into Norma's house looking for Norman. When he finds Norman not there, Norma tells Romero the truth about everything. What is Romero going to do now?
Meanwhile poor Norman has spent most of the episode in a box (except for that feeble escape attempt). He's losing what little mind he had to start with. He thinks back to Mrs Watson. He remembers having sex with her and his imaginary mother saying "You know what you have to do". Norman then slashes Blair's throat. Can we trust what Norman sees though? His memories have been a bit faulty in the past.
Grade: 4 3/4 Monsters (out of 5). An excellent episode. I've said it before but Vera and Freddie really hit it out of the park again this week. I cant imagine two other actors in these roles. There's only one episode left in season 2. What will happen next week? I can't wait.
TV: Heavy On Sci Fi, Horror & Adventure; Light On Reality
