The Bridge Episodes 10-11 Recaps: Old Friends Take A Ride And Pay The Toll

Despite all the craziness, I'm still watching this show for some reason. Episode 10 "Old Friends" was just so-so (not a great lot happened). I really enjoyed episode 11 "Take The Ride, Pay The Toll" though.

There is one thing I'd like to get off my chest though. While David Tate has a right to be severely pissed because his wife and son were killed, this scheme to seek revenge on everyone that is remotely connected to the case is VERY far fetched. He's after Marco (who was sleeping with his wife) and Frye (who was doing drugs with Santi before the accident) and let's not forget about all the completely uninvolved migrants he killed in the desert. Frye and Marco are in no way responsible for his wife/son's deaths. The only person responsible was driving the car (Santi Sol Jr). Thanks for listening. I feel much better.

Anyhow, back to the show. At beginning of episode 10, Sonya is taken to the hospital since the car she and Gus were in was rammed by Tate. Before going she gives Lt Wade Tate's license number and tells him to find Gus. In other news, Daniel is trying to stop boozin' and druggin'. He goes to an AA meeting. He tells Adriana why he cant quit (he can't forgive himself due to his connections to the deaths). While outside, Tate sticks a syringe in Daniel and drives off with him.

Charlotte goes to hear the reading of her late husband's will. Turns out he gave all his money to his daughter Kate. Later Charlotte and Ray meet up with Tim. He has been secretly working with the ATF (so she shoots him). She is turning into a bad ass.  Death toll for Charlotte is two killed (one by pitchfork and one by gunshot) and one person she may have helped along (when he had a heart attack).

Marco goes to talk to Alma but she's not having any of his BS. He's cheated on her one too many times and now their son is missing. We see poor Gus is buried in a tank that is filling up with water (sins of the father indeed). And Tate drives off with Marco is his car... and end scene.

Next we see Marco and Tate on the Americas Bridge. Apparently they get paid extra for all those bridge scenes. Turns out Frye is in the trunk. David is wearing a bomb vest and has activated the trigger so the snipers cant shoot him. Just a suggestion boys, next time try shooting him BEFORE he does that. You had plenty of time. Anyway Tate wants Marco to shoot Frye and then he'll tell him where Gus is. This scene should have been really suspenseful but it seemed to be dragging.

Meanwhile Sonya thinks she knows where Gus is being held. They race back to the house and finally find it. Sonya reaches inside the water filled tank. Great camera angle from inside the tank looking up. Now that scene was suspenseful. Back on the bridge, Marco refused to shoot Frye. Tate does instead and Frye falls backward off the bridge. Next Marco has the gun on Frye and screams "tell me where my son is". David just keeps saying over and over again that he is dead. Sonya comes running up. She tells Marco that she found Gus. There is lots of himing and hawing. Is he alive or not? Sonya says he is alive (but of course she's a really bad liar). Marco is ready to pull the trigger but Sonya shoots him in the leg to stop him. She also shoots Tate in the leg too.

And cut over to the house where Cooper is watching them zip Gus into a body bag. They were too late. How sad. Later Sonya goes to visit Marco in the hospital. She says she wants to be there with him since they're friends. Marco says he doesn't want to see her. They are not friends. There were partners and now that is over. Sonya is visibly upset. The last scene is of Marco going to the morgue to see his son's body. That was a painful scene to watch.

Grade: 4 Monsters (out of 5). Only two episodes to go till the end of season 1. We're still not sure if there will be a season 2. And the jury is still out on how I feel about this show. Please let me know if you're having the same challenges.
