I don't usually recap "Grey's Anatomy" but since we're at the start of a new season (season 10), I wanted to jot down my thoughts. When we last saw the docs at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, Richard was lying in the basement after being electrocuted (and might die), Meredith had just had the baby (and might die), Arizona cheated on Callie (and wishes she was dead), Christine and Owen have broken up YET again (I'd like to die if we have to go through this again) and Jackson and April are still buzzing around each other (somebody please kill them).
And in the episode:
- Meredith and Baby Bailey are doing well.
- Richard is found in the basement by Heather (who is then also electrocuted). Shane finds them both but knows enough not to get electrocuted. Much of the episode is split between the doctor's trying to save each's life. It turns out Richard made Meredith his next of kin (unbeknownst to her). Catherine Avery shows up and starts screaming at everyone that they're incompetent. Meredith holds her ground and it turns out Bailey was exactly right with her diagnosis. Richard wakes up at the end of the episode with everyone squeaking around his hospital bed.
- Heather is not as lucky as Richard and dies. None of the interns seemed cracked up about it except for Shane. He had sent her to the basement to look for Richard so feels responsible. Everyone else makes up stories to tell Heather's mom about how great she was (since they don't really have anything nice to say about her). These people are jerks. I don't think I'd want them working on me. After Shane says he's leaving to help the mudslide victims, they all go with him.
- Callie announces to everyone that Arizona CHEATED with Dr. Boswell. She then moves out out of their house and takes baby Sophia to MerDer's. She says Arizona can visit on certain days. Arizona seems to not realize how serious this was until that happened. Are they split up for good? I hope not.
- Christine and Owen are still breaking up. They have one more season to do it since Sandra Oh won't be back for a season 11.
- Jackson and April are still at it but April ends up proposing to Matthew (and he accepts). And who thinks this won't work out?
- Alex and Jo- who cares (cause I don't).
Grade: 4 Monsters (out of 5). A great start to a new season! As I've said before, I don't care about the interns' story lines but I guess they're not going anywhere (unless they all get killed in the mudslide).
