In this week's episode:
- Alex Dunbar is preparing for WWIII. He trains personal protection dogs from his home in isolated San Luis, Colorado. I think the dogs are either German Shepherds or a Russian variation. They respond to commands in Czech. You wouldn't think such dogs would be effective until you're up against one (especially if you're afraid of dogs). They are also of course faster and have better a better sense of sight, hearing and smell than humans.
- Brenda McSwigan and her three friends (one who is a nurse, one for security, and one who is a farmer) are preparing for a bird flu epidemic. Is it wise to keep chickens if you're worried about the bird flu? Her property is solar powered so there are no power lines to her house. While I admire her willingness to try to help others, that always opens the door to infecting everyone in your group (even if you have isolation measures in place).
- Grace and Craig McLeod are preparing for economic collapse. Grace was previously a police officer. Their house is designed so if you pull up the ladder, no one can access it. They have provisions to help others without digging into their stash. They had a consulting firm evaluate their setup.
What I learned from this episode?
- It's best to move to your bug out location now.
- It seems that most of the population of North Carolina are preppers.
Scores (each team had high scores this week):
- Alex: 7? points (I didn't get his exact score, please let me know if you remember it)
- Brenda: 73 points (low on security but she got a high score anyway, maybe because she also had healthcare professionals and redundant sources available)
- Grace and Craig: 69 points
