Almost Human Episodes 6-8 Recaps: The Future Seems Strangely Familiar

While "Almost Human" may not be the most critically acclaimed show on television, it does have a lot of things going for it. The lead characters are fun to watch and interact well together. There's a good mix between drama, action, and comedy. My favorite part is the future tech though. If you like "sci fi" and haven't seen the show, it's definitely with a look.

Below are episode overviews from TV.com for the last three shows and a few of my thoughts:
  • In the future, going to the doctor will be the same experience as self checkout at the grocery store (complete with the machine freezing at inopportune times). You have been diagnosed with a very serious form of... .system error, please reboot....
  • You definitely do NOT want to be late when making paying on internal organs. When I dont pay my doctor bills on time I always say "well they cant repossess my body". Well in this case, yes, yes they can.
  • "Reduce. reuse. recycle" does not apply to artificial body parts.
  • When using robots to fight crime, be sure to regularly update their files. Otherwise they'll be tackling prisoners who got out of jail years ago.
  • Are they ever going to do anything with Valerie Stahl (Minka Kelly's character)? Not sure why she's on the show since she is utilized so little.
  • Watch out if you're Synthetic is not fully charged.
  • "Simon Says" was not my most favorite episode since we've seen the ole " bomb around the neck" story before.
  • I always knew I hated targeted advertising. Now it's killing people. You marketing bastards!!!
  • Dorian singing Korean pop songs... too funny.
  • Did anyone else notice that pulsating beating heart sound through most of "You Are Here"? That was definitely overused.
  • Favorite quote: "That's aftermarket... voids the warranty" (when looking at the device attached to a man's non-functioning artificial heart).

From TV.com:

Episode 6: Arrhythmia

Kennex and Dorian investigate a suspected homicide at a hospital of a man who knew his exact time of death before he experienced his fatal cardiac arrest, connected to a black market for bio-mechanical organs which can be remotely shut down and resold. Meanwhile. Dorian connects with one of his decommissioned "brothers".

Episode 7: Simon Says

Det. Kennex and Dorian investigate a psychopathic killer named Simon who is attaching bombs to his victims’ necks and broadcasting and airing their deaths over the internet. When Simon goes after Kennex, the team is in a perilous race against time to save him. Meanwhile, a power problem affects Dorian’s energy level, making him have strange outbursts.

Episode 8: You Are Here
Kennex and Dorian investigate a crime scene in which a bullet with auto-guidance capabilities can track, target and kill a specific person at any time. Meanwhile, Captain Maldonado looks into the deadly ambush that almost ended Det. Kennex's life.

Grade: 3 1/2 Monsters (out of 5). "
Arrhythmia" was my favorite episode to date. I gave that a 4 1/2. The other two episodes, not so much.
