Sleepy Hollow Episode 12-13 Recaps: Dont Lie You Didnt See That Coming Either (Season Finale)

"Sleepy Hollow" ended it's first season with a two parter. Episode 12 was entitled "The Indispensable Man" and episode 14 was entitled "Bad Blood". We have been leading up to the ultimate battle between good and evil all season (with Moloch trying to unleash the four Horsemen of the Apocalypse). The only people standing in his way are Abbie, Ichabod, Jenny, Irving and Henry. Here's the highlights:

  • George Washington left a secret message for Ichabod in his Bible. They're looking for a map that shows the route to Purgatory (so they can rescue Katrina). First they dig up the dead priest from the beginning of the season. Knapp apparently was present when George Washington was resurrected. They try to use his beads for Henry to get a "bead on" where George is actually buried. Haaa I made a bead joke.  Get it?  Nevermind, anyway, George is actually in a cool underground chamber created by the masons. They get the map and note that George had beautiful teeth (not wooden ones as we were lead to believe). That was a fun aside.
  • Captain Irving is no longer a captain. He took the rap for the deaths his daughter Macey committed while a demon.
  • Andy is still busy running around and has been turned into some "Descent" looking creature.
  • Ichabod and Abbey spend time running around Purgatory, fighting off temptations and seeing long dead folk (Ichy's father, Headless Corbin and look there's Andy again... they cant get away from that guy). Anyway they confirm their identities with a fist pump. They find Katrina. Abbey has to stay in Purgatory so Katrina can leave but Ichy will be back for her... or not. It has been prophesied that Ichabod will give Abbeys' soul to Moloch.

At the end of the season:

  • And in a surprise twist I never saw coming (and dont' tell me you already guessed this, cause I dont believe you) Henry Parrish is REALLY Ichabod and Katrina's son Jeremy. He's mad at Mommy and Daddy. Mommy's coven buried him alive. Then Moloch strolled back and dug him up so now they're BFFs. And f that weren't enough, he is also the second horseman-- WAR.
  • Abbie is stuck in a tiny dollhouse in purgatory (with her and Jenny's younger selves). Ichy better not forget about going back to get her.
  • The Headless Horseman has ridden off with Katrina as his prize.
  • Ichabod is buried alive (just like Jeremy was).
  • Jenny is passed out in her upside down truck (thanks to the Headless Horseman attacking her). She was rushing to tell Abbie that Henry Parish was the name of a church. She has the sign to prove it.
  • Irving is off to jail thanks to Demon Macey killing the cop and priest.

Fun stuff:
  • Zombie George Washington- need I say more?
  • Ichabod is trying to get with the 21th century. He wants a new phone (since his flip phone doesnt work).
  • He gets new clothes (kinda).
  • Ichy once dated Betsy Ross. Too funny.
  • And I had forgotten that Ichy has a photographic memory. Where can I sign up for one of those?

Grade: 4 Monsters (out of 5). I'd give the last episode a 4 1/2 Monsters. So how did you like this season? I must say I had low expectations to start with but I really liked it. It has the right blend of horror, camp and history turned on its ear. And the good news is the Sin Eater will be back next season. It's going to be a long wait till Fall.
