American Horror Story Coven Episode 12: Stevie Nicks For Next Supreme

This episode (aptly titled "Go To Hell") begins with a black and white rendition of the Salem witches performing the Seven Wonders. They are: telekinesis (to control objects with the mind), concilium (to control someone's mind), transmutation (transporting oneself to another location), divination (to see the future), vitalum vitalis (to bring a person back from the dead), descensum (to move between life and the afterlife) and pyrokinesis (to control fire with the mind).

Queenie is looking for Marie and needs Papa Legba's help (always a bad idea). Her personal version of Hell is working in a chicken joint for all eternity. I feel ya. That would be Hell to me too. Anyway, she makes it back and she and Papa sit down for a nice cup of cocoa. He's partial to marshmellows. He tells Queenie that Marie has been chopped into 50 pieces by Delphine. Her body is scattered around town. Queenie reminds Legba that Marie can no longer keep up her side of the bargain so she should be released from the contract. Uh, given what later happens, I'm not sure I want Queenie doing any negotiating for me.

Queenie finds Delphine at her old house. She has taken a hammer to the head of the previous tour guide and is now leading them herself. Of course the script has been changed significantly (that's an understatement). She says Madame LaLaurie was a woman ahead of her time. Queenie tries to get her to confess some of her misdeeds but Delphine will not budge. She is beyond rehabilitation... so Queenie stabs her to death. Kathy Bates has seriously been one of the best things about this season.

Next we see Marie, Delphine and her daughter all stuck in Hell. Papa is there. He is super creepy. I LOVE him! They apparently are to spend eternity with Marie torturing her daughter while Delphine helplessly watches. Like I said, not a good deal. Thanks for nothing Queenie! Marie says she doesnt want to hurt the girl but she doesnt have a say in the matter. Delphine and Marie are destined to spend eternity together no matter what. And now would be a good time for Delphine to utter her famous line "What Fresh Hell Is This?".

Cordelia is busy running around to trying to gain her powers back. Fiona tells her she never lost her second sight so the whole blinding thing was unnecessary. Oppps bad move. Cordelia sees a vision of where Misty is. She and Queenie go to the cemetery and retrieve her. When they get back to the school, Misty beats the crap out of Madison for locking her the coffin.

Zoe and FrankenKyle return from Epcot. She now has heightened powers too. Kyle killed a homeless man and she brought him back to life. Myrtle is not happy to see them since she warned Zoe to leave and bought their tickets.

Fiona says she only has two weeks to live. She gives Cordelia a necklace that her grandmother wore. Cordelia sees a vision of Fiona killing all the witches (including herself). Cordelia visits the Ax Man. She tells him Fiona is playing him and is planning to run away ALONE. Ax Man is very hurt by this (because he's such a sensitive guy).

Fiona is telling him a story about her cat when Ax Man axes her (imagine that). He returns to the school but before he can kill anyone else, he's stabbed to death by the rest of the witches. But not before he tells them he feed Fiona's body to the alligators. Misty says she cant resurrect someone who is "alligator shit". Is Fiona really gone? I dont think so. That seemed way to easy. And how did they kill Ax Man? I thought he was a ghost.

And that painting of Fiona doesnt look a thing like her. Arent there any good portrait artists around these days?

So What Will Happen Next Week?
  • Tell me if I'm off base here but, to me, it seems the endings of all the seasons of AHS are in the wrong places. In season 1 there was one episode after they were all killed (which was fine since I didn't know what to expect). In season 2 what I thought should have been the finale was 3 episodes before the end. In season 3 I thought a showdown between Fiona and the girls was end game. Fiona is/ was the most formidable power on the show. I don't care that much about the next Supreme. All the girls are irritating at this point.
  • But while we're on the topic, I'm going to say the next Supreme is... Stevie Nicks. If not her, then its one of the boys-- FrankenKyle, Cremated Luke, or Doll Loving Spalding. And my last guess is Myrtle. Those guesses are so far out in left field, something's bound to stick. What would be really funny is if Fiona is not dead and wins after all. Did we see Ax Man chop her up? No, we did not.
  • I really hope we havent seen the last of Marie and Delphine. And what of the Delphi Trust? They were far too easy to get rid of too. Will Nan be back?
  • Or maybe Baby Cecil (Spalding's Live Doll) is the next Supreme.

Favorite quotes:
  • "Rest up little girl. Take your vitamin B12s. You will perform the Seven Wonders or die trying"- Fiona to Queenie.
  • "You're just like Holsten who sold his brand to JC Pennys"- Myrtle to Zoe.
  • "Your daughter paid me a visit" (Ax Man). "Please tell me she's in the bathtub" (Fiona).
  • "He's a psycho serial killer" (Madison)."Who among us cant say that?" (Myrtle).
  • "Eventually everybody pays, everybody suffers"- Papa Legba

Grade: 4 1/2 Monsters (out of 5). Another great episode. I'm already sad that we're at the end.
