Dracula Episode 9 Recap: Get A Clue People, Grayson IS Dracula!

Tonight's episode "Four Roses" was ho hum in spots but it's all a setup for the  finale (and I assume end of the show) next week. If this show did continue into a second season and they still hadn't figured out that Grayson is Dracula, they deserve to be fanged. We already learned from the vamp hooker that Dracula can walk during the day. None of these troubles started until after Grayson arrived. So guess what that means people? Anyway, in other goings on in the show:
  • Mina spent most of her time passed out in the hospital. She did wake up long enough to: 1. See that Grayson was bringing her flowers and is obsessed with her; 2. Find out from Lucy that she and Jonathan had done the bone dance; 3. Visit Jonathan and end the relationship (Jonathan says he knows she's in love with Grayson) after which she promptly passes out in the street.
  • Renfield continues to try to talk sense into Dracula but it never works. Dude, I hope you get paid a lot of money for dealing with him. Meanwhile Dracula brings friends to the Dragon's club house and they chomp down on some supporting characters. That was fun.
  • Lucy finds out from her mother's reaction to her feelings towards women, that she has indeed been played by Lady Jayne.
  • After denying it, we see that Van Helsing did kidnap Browning's children. He took out his shiny silver mallet (that had been used previously on the Seers) but couldn't bring himself to bash their little heads in. I'm glad to see the man has some decency. It's not the kiddie's fault. Send them to some nice non-Dragon adoptive parents.
  • Jonathan joins the Order of the Dragon. His first duty is to steal the schematics for Grayson's free energy machine. Let's face it, no one cares. The Dragon induction ceremony concludes with a blood brother handshake. If I were you, I'd stick with a good firm handshake instead. There are diseases around, ya know.
  • Lady Jayne has summoned all the huntsmen in existence to descend upon London and rid them of the Evil Elder. How many huntsmen are there? And if they're all as bad at sniffing out vampires as Lady Jayne, this could take a while.
  • Browning and company remove the restrictions previously placed on Grayson's free energy doohickey. Grayson can now proceed with the demonstration. Of course the Dragons plan to turn it into a "catastrophic event" to get rid of Grayson once and for all.
  • And in the last scene Lucy is in the tub when Dracula visits her saying "if you want to act like a monster, I will make you a monster". With that he bites her and forces her to drink his blood. I guess she's a vampire now? I've said it several times before but I dont understand the character's motivations in this show AT ALL. If you want to get rid of someone you should kill them, not make them an immortal creature so they're a royal pain in your ass for the rest of eternity. PS If Lucy is a vampire I personally am very happy because she'll be around forever.
  • The pauses between...every...word... in Grayson's dialogue was very off putting. Was he directed to do that? Cause it wasn't working for me.

Grade: 3 1/2 Monsters (out of 5). I really hope the finale goes out with a bang. If I was writing this show (and there was no second season) I would kill Dracula with a big ole stake and have Lucy (who is now a vampire) and Mina run off together. They would get their own spinoff (along with Lady Jayne who would spend each episode chasing them while wearing fabulous outfits).
