Elena Michaels (portrayed by Laura Vandervoort) is apparently the world's only female werewolf. I'm not sure how that works. Hopefully they'll tell us later. Anyway, Elena doesn't want to be a werewolf. She wants to have a normal "human" life.
Jeremy Danvers (the pack master of her wolf family) calls her back to Stonehaven (which is their wolfie compound in upstate New York). Some unknown "mutt" is infringing on their territory and killing people. So Elena lies to her human boyfriend Phillip and begrudgingly heads home. Other pack members include Logan (her therapist), Antonio (Logan's father) , Nick, and Jeremy's son Clayton (who used to have a thing with Elena but we dont know what caused their breakup). Oh and did I mention Elena eats a lot? Is that to try to keep her wolf alter ego under wraps?
"We are animals, all of us. The only difference between humans and anything else is the persona, the mask behind which we hide all desires, everything that scares us about ourselves."- Clayton Danvers.
Grade: 4 Monsters (out of 5). A howling good first episode. I'll definitely be watching again.
