I wont give away the specifics on each episode here since I dont want to ruin it for ya. It's definitely worth a watch-- very thought provoking and frightening.
- Episode 1: The National Anthem- A princess is kidnapped and the demands for her return are very unusual. Let's just say the Prime Minister may never be the same. I love bacon but this is a bit much.
- Episode 2: Fifteen Million Merits- A very bleak depiction of the future without any real human interaction. Days are spent pedaling to buy swag for avatars and porn watching is mandatory. The future's version of "X Factor" is right on the nose. This was my favorite of the three. I'm still thinking about poor Bing and Ali several days later.
- Episode 3: The Entire History of You- What if everyone had a brain implant (called a "grain") that allowed them to relive/rewind each and every event of their lives in minute detail? Nope that shouldnt create issues for a couple that already needs marriage counseling.
Grade: 4 1/2 Monsters (out of 5). "Black Mirror" successfully skewers technology, reality TV and politics. If this is our future, no thanks. I'll pass. Given humans tendency towards addiction, all-things-technology seems to be our latest drug. But like other drugs it leaves us lonely and isolated from any meaningful human interaction.
