Helix Season 2 Episode 6 Review: My Money Is On Sister Amy

Finally answers to several big questions so let's get right to it. "Domestica" opens with Ilaria executives discussing the events of Arctic Biosystems. This is intercut with sexy times between Julia and Sergio. She accidentally calls him Alan. Ooops. Uncomfortable. The board purposefully didnt tell Julia about the meeting. They want to reduce the world population by 75% by using Narvick C to infect everyone. Julia calls it genocide and wants time to investigate non-lethal methods. They tell her she's had enough time already.

Motion Approved To Wipe Out Humanity. Next Up Executive Compensation Plans.

Sarah has recovered from her stab wound to the belly. Alan reveals that Kyle is trying to bring Alan to justice for the CDC. Alan says the source of the outbreak is "M (Malus) Domestica"-- the common apple.

Amy reveals to her mother Anne that Agnes told her Sarah has silver eyes. Amy doesnt believe anything about Michael says. Her twentieth birthday is coming up. That means she must bear Michael a daughter in a ceremony known as the "planting ritual". Yuck. He's the father of all of these women and he has sex with them to produce more daughters. That's just gross.

Peter's In A Pickle

Michael questions Peter (who is still in the hole). He wants to know if Peter is an immortal and what he knows about Ilaria. A few rats should help speed the interrogation along. Michael visits Peter again. This time he wants wants to know about Sarah. Peter tells him Sarah has an immortal child (well right now its just a fetus).

I Like My Plan Better

Landry runs to Amy with the news. The child might be enough to make them all immortal. Amy says Michael is trying to creating another immortal. That's why he keeps having sex with all his daughters. Amy tells Landry "There's either you and me or you and Michael. When you make a decision, that's when you'll know there is an US". Way to work him girl! He later pours infected honey on berries served during Agnes' memorial service. Everyone goes crazy and turns on each other. Kyle's brilliant idea (insert sarcasm here) is to quarantine them. My suggestion would be to kill them...but hey that's just me.

I'd Be Seriously Pissed If I Was An Immortal Kid

In another flashback, Jules gives Sergio the antidote for Narvick C. There is only a single dose. She says "Keep it safe. Its about to become the most valuable substance on earth." Some immortal chick crashes Julia's house. She disagrees with Ilaria's plan to extinguish humanity (as do several other immortals). She gives Julia a card with the name "Mademoiselle Durrand". Julia goes the park. Ms Durrand is actually a young girl.  She gives Olivia a medallion saying there is a renegade immortal there that has been working on something very promising. That immortal is of course Brother Michael.

Is Anne About To Be Added To The Wall Of Daughter-Wives?

Back on the island, Michael suggests they use a concoction that Agnes created to sedate the infected. Amy secretly visits Olivia who will assemble the rest of the uninfected culties. They storm the infirmary and release all the infected. Really bad idea. The infected honey is discovered by Michael in Anne's coat. Amy of course had Landry plant it. That girl is pure evil and I'm loving it. Amy feigns being upset over Anne. Poor Anne. How did she end up with such a mean daughter?

And at the end of the episode, Landry sneaks up on Alan with the crazy-moving-eye-gas. Alan tries to strangle Sarah. We'll have to wait till next week to see if he succeeds.

Favorite Quotes:
  • "This isnt genocide. Its a cleansing moment of clarity"- Immortal Dr Pozniak about their plan to wipe out 3/4 of the population on the planet.
  • "No matter what, you prevail. That is how we prevail"- Ann to Michael discussing her mother (and Michael's daughter Agnes). We of course know he snapped Agnes' neck.
  • Ann: "We owe him too much." Amy: "Maybe it's time for him to pay"- Amy to her mother Ann about Michael.
  • "Keep it safe. Its about to become the most valuable substance on earth."- Julia to Sergio about the Narvick C antidote.
  • "The things they want gone go in the hole"- crazy girl to Peter (who is still in the hole trying to dodge the rats).
  • "There's either you and me or you and Michael. When you make a decision, that's when you'll know there is an us"- Amy to Landry.
  • "I dont relish spending eternity with the company of the same silver eyed dullards any more than you do"- Ilaria new bestie to Julia.
  • "Of all my daughters you've always been my favorite"- Michael to...well... everyone.
  • "Step into the light where I can see your eyes... Did Ilaria send you?"- Michael to Peter.
Grade: 4 1/2 Monsters (out of 5). A great episode lots of fun reveals. There were no flash forwards to Julia and Hatake. However we saw in a flash back that Julia was previously trying to save mankind from Ilaria's plans to wipe out 75% of the population. We also learned a little more about Michael's crazy family and all his wives/daughters. Sister Amy may be the stand out character of this season if she keeps ratcheting up the crazy.

So we now know what Ilaria was up to during season 1 (kinda). They have been working on a virus to wipe out mankind for some time. How Julia was accepted into their fold I have no idea. I would think becoming immortal wouldnt be an automatic ticket to the board meetings but whatever. We still dont know exactly how Michael became an immortal since previously he said "but she wasnt there" (where referring to Sarah being immortal). I must say after my initial reservations, I'm fully on board at this point-- so dont screw up the rest of the season "Helix".
